New Campers

Get ready for your very first summer at camp with these great resources!

Watch some videos: Check out so many fun videos on our Vimeo page. You’ll get a great feel for camp from watching the action. We especially recommend our Welcome New Camper video and our Cabin Tour video.

Read the Blog: We post so many fun updates on our Greystone Blog throughout the year. Read along to learn more about camp before you even arrive.

Explore our camp classes: Read up on all of the fun classes you will be able to take at Greystone this summer! You can page through many of our activities through our Explore page.

Listen to some Greystone songs: After eating meals together, we love singing some of our favorite Greystone songs. While you’ll learn the songs quickly once you arrive, you can start listening to them now to get a head start.

Read our devotions: Did you know you can have a devotion sent to you everyday? Get your parents to sign up! These are written by camp counselors and former staff members, so you’ll get a great feel of camp.

Make a camp recipe: You can try out some of our great Greystone food before you even arrive. Try cooking through a camp recipe with your family as you anticipate our wonderful camp food. We especially recommend the Cheesy Chicken and Chicken Enchiladas.

Think about your bunk: When you arrive at camp, you’ll have your very own bunk that you can make your own. Check out details about what you can use to decorate your space and also our suggestions about how to set up your bunk (one updated note, campers now set up their bunks by themselves on Opening Day).

New Parents

Don’t let camp overwhelm you! Let us know what questions you have. We will also be sending so much more information in the spring.

Prepare your daughter for camp: Take a look at our Preparing for Camp page to see our list of suggestions on what you can do now to prepare for your daughter’s first summer at camp.

Connect with other parents: Join our Parent Facebook page or one of our City Facebook groups to connect with other parents before the summer.

Look over the packing lists: Glance over our packing lists to get ideas for Christmas or birthday gifts this year. While we will update these lists in the spring, they stay mostly the same year to year. You can also check out this great Packing Cheat Sheet blog to start learning some helpful hints about packing for camp.

Read through our New Camper Blogs: In the spring, we have a New Camper Blog series that we will post each week, giving you the inside scoop on being a new camper family. Our New Camper Blog archives are a great place to start to dip your toe into your first summer at camp. We especially recommend these great blogs written by fellow parents:

Think about Rest Hour: Everyday, the campers will enjoy a Rest Hour after lunch. This one-hour quiet time is meant to give the girls a break in our busy day. Check out some Rest Hour suggestions we have shared in the past. You can even practice Rest Hour already at home!

Book a place to stay: It’s never too early to think about where to stay when you come for Opening and Closing Days. Let us know if you need more suggestions!

Come tour: If you can swing it before the summer, come tour! We’d love to show your family around. We offer tours throughout the year, and many families come tour in the spring.
