By making a donation to the Great Day Fund, your gift to the Fund qualifies for deductions for income and estate tax purposes. The Great Day Fund is part of the Community Foundation of Henderson County, which is a qualified charitable corporation under Section 501©(3) of the Internal Revenue Service.

A gift to the Great Day Fund of any amount is valuable and appreciated. As always your donation is tax deductible and will help provide the camp experience to a deserving new generation.

Cash Gifts

You can make a cash donation by mailing a check or donating online. Checks should be made out to the Great Day Fund and can be mailed to the following address:

The Great Day Fund
401 N Main Street, Ste 300
Hendersonville, NC 28792

You can double your donations with matching gifts. Check with your Human Resources Department, as many companies match their employees’ charitable gifts. It’s a great way to make your contribution dollars go further.

Memorial/Honorary Gifts

These unique gifts are made in memory of or in honor of family and/or camp friends. Consider making an honorary gift in recognition of a birthday, anniversary, significant achievement, graduation, or in memoriam.

Charitable Funds

You can easily donate to the Great Day Fund through a donor advised charitable fund through a company such as Vanguard or Fidelity. Search for the Community Foundation of Henderson County, and then indicate or select the Great Day Fund as the designated fund. If your account does not allow you to select the Great Day Fund specifically, please contact the Community Foundation (info@CFHCforever.org or 828.697.6224) to make them aware that you would like your tranfered funds to go to the Great Day Fund specifically.

Stock & Mutual Fund Gifts

Stock & mutual fund gifts are coordinated by the Great Day Fund, in conjunction with the Community Foundation, who directs proceeds from the sale of these assets to the Great Day Fund.

Giving stock through electronic transfer is the easiest method when a donor maintains holdings in a brokerage account. Below is a list of brokers with which the Community Foundation has accounts:

  • Charles Schwab
  • Edward Jones
  • Merrill Lynch
  • TD Ameritrade
  • If your broker is not listed above, please use Charles Schwab for your transfer needs.

NOTE: Please alert the Great Day Fund before the transfer so that we can make arrangements with the broker to receive the stock.

If you like to create your own Letter of Instruction, please to request a template. You will need to call the Foundation (828-697-6224) to obtain our Account # and DTC # for any of the brokers listed above. Certain brokers require a notary or medallion stamp in addition to your signature. Check with your broker to determine if this is needed for your particular transfer.

Planned Giving

Please consider Planned Giving as one method of donating to the Great Day Fund. You can arrange for the Fund to be the recipient of life insurance, IRAs, 401Ks, and you can name the Fund in your will.

Life Insurance, IRAs, and 401Ks

Consider designating a portion of these proceeds to the Great Day Fund. If properly accomplished, this can be done without tax effect. We have forms to aid in the designation of life insurance, which we will furnish on request.

Wills

Designating the Great Day Fund in your Will is an excellent way to give the gift of a summer camping experience. This can de done by specifying:

  • A specific dollar amount: A percentage of the residual value of your estate.
  • Specific assets: You don’t need to rewrite your Will in its entirety – a codicil can be added to accomplish the same goal. Please consult your lawyer. Please let us know if you designate the Fund so we can list you as a member of our Hail Greystone Hail Society.

It’s possible to include the Great Day Fund as a part of your lifetime charitable gift giving program or your estate plan. A representative of the Fund can work with you and one or more of your advisors (attorney, C.P.A., or financial planner) to help you make this type of gift. You can decide exactly how to structure your gift.

Camper Involvement

Even if you are a camper, you can still be involved in the Great Day Fund. Consider being involved in the following ways:

  • Talk with your family about giving a donation as part of your Christmas gifts this year. You can give the gift in honor of your relatives or friends, or your family can give a donation together, as a way to honor each other during the Christmas season.
  • Save some of your allowance or babysitting money each week. Saving $1 each week would make your end of the year donation over $50!
  • If your relatives or friends ask what you want for Christmas or your birthday, you could ask that they give a donation in your name to the Fund.
  • Talk with your cabin mates about each giving a donation. You can give a donation as a group, so that “June Camp Cabin 13” is recognized.
  • Give a gift in honor of your favorite counselor. Even something small would mean a lot to her and will make a difference!
