2025 Alumnae Sparks

Hello Greystone Alumnae!

Another year has passed, and another group of campers and counselors has basked in the joy that only camp provides. It was once again a wonderful year! At the same time, we have been reminded of the hardships and trials that often arise unexpectedly and how God provides in every circumstance.

Our 106th summer was a delight in many ways. We once again welcomed hundreds of campers who were able to experience Greystone, many for the first time. We expanded our program options and improved many systems behind the scenes with the goal of “delighting and inspiring for the Glory of God.” Camper and parent surveys were overwhelmingly positive (98% of our parents would recommend Greystone to a friend again, and 85% of our campers re-enrolled for 2025 during Early Bird enrollment).

We know you, our biggest fans, are interested in the details, so here is a summary of what’s going on here in Tuxedo:

In 2025, we added these wonderful facility updates:

  • Renovated eight Bungalow bathrooms (our bright, easy-to-clean, new design features two showers and three changing areas)
  • Built a new “Cooking in the Garden” space that the campers loved
  • Adapted walkways to access flooded docks (Lake Summit flooded after Hurricane Helene, and the repairs by the power company have not yet started)
  • Added large porches to five cabins
  • Added and upgraded our mountain biking trail system
  • Bought two new ovens for the Cooking program and a new kiln for Glass
  • Built eight pickleball courts (replacing three tennis courts) near the soccer field
  • Built a new Evening Program stage for the Shepherd’s Gazebo
  • Built a glamorous “Mahjong Cave” in the basement space under the Dining Hall porch

The Great Day Fund also grew in significant ways:

  • Over 75% of our staff donated part of their summer pay
  • More parents than ever donated to our scholarship fund (surpassing the generosity of the alumnae group for the second time)
  • Scholarships given from the fund once again surpassed $250,000 in 2025

For 2026, we are continuing to make things better:

  • Renovating Tentalow 6-10 bathrooms (a total of 10) with our new layout
  • Expanding the Health Hut porch (making it four times bigger and more versatile)
  • Significantly expanding our septic system (a very big improvement that nobody will notice!)
  • Some pavement repairs, tree lightning protection advances, and landscaping upgrades in many places
  • Building two new riding rings that will host the return of our English Riding lesson program

Thank you for your continued support of Greystone and for allowing us this opportunity to serve the campers and counselors who love camp so much. God is glorified in this place, and it is an honor to be a part of that mission every year.

We also want to thank you for participating in camp life in such a meaningful way. Helping with Opening or Closing Day (quite a few of you came back to help us, and it made a huge difference; sign-ups for 2026 will go live in the spring), mentoring the Honor Council (we now have a well-structured leadership program, and a handful of alum voices were one of the best continued improvements again this year), and contributing to The Great Day Fund. Your impact is growing and making a difference in the lives of these girls.

We love you and look forward to seeing you at an Opening or Closing Day in 2026 or our next Great Day Alumnae Weekend in 2027. Enjoy reading the Sparks!

With love, Jimboy and Margaret
