Relive the 2025 Great Day Alumnae Reunion with Us!

We welcomed almost 200 camp alumnae back to their summer home the first weekend in October, and we are still basking in the glow of the fun we had and the memories that were created. Come along with us as we share some of our favorite moments from our 2025 Great Day Alumnae Reunion.

Feeling the FOMO? Save the date for our next one! We hope we’ll get to see you all there for more core memories. Make sure you’re subscribed to our Blog and following us on social media to get reminders and updates!

Hugs on the Lower Road during Arrivals

Alumnae checked in at the office on Friday afternoon, picking up their nametags (of course!), t-shirts, and nametag flags to claim their Greystone years and favorite team. There were so many hugs and squeals of delight as old friends reunited and moved into their cabins again. No matter how long it’s been, camp friends can always pick right back up where they left off!

Appetizer Receptions on the Pageant Court

Each evening, we gathered for snacks, drinks, and good conversation down by the Shepherd’s Gazebo. The fall colors were already on display, and it was so fun to see Greystone Girls from different decades meet each other and get to catch up. We had to blow the Flag bugle 3 times that first night to get the group’s attention - we could have kept talking all night long!

Meals in the Dining Hall

Even though our alums were only here for a short weekend, we made sure to serve so many of our Kitchen favorites. We feasted on homemade pizza, brownies, ham and apples, “cat head” biscuits, taco in a bag, steak, and of course, bread pudding. Our Dining Hall was full once again, and we wish you could have heard the singing! After dinner the first night, we had s’mores, nametag decorating, and more catching up in White Hall.

Hearing from Elizabeth Madden Pehrson and Heather Brown Holleman

Of course we enjoyed Morning Assembly on Saturday! It was extra special singing along to “Dive” and “Big House” with two of the former Group Leaders who introduced the songs and the Morning Assembly format we’re still using today. After praise and worship, led by Elizabeth Raby Darden, we heard from Elizabeth and Heather for their first of two devotions over the course of the weekend.

They focused on remembering God’s faithfulness in our stories and returning to Him with gratitude and reverence as we experienced the joy of camp again. At church on Sunday (up at Council Fire!), they once again shared stories to illustrate how we so often ask for a solution or a feeling in our prayers, but God always sends a Person. We all left feeling more connected to each other and connected to the God we see so clearly here at camp. Getting to hear their wisdom was a huge highlight of the Reunion weekend!

Enjoying Our Favorite Camp Activities

Saturday brought the perfect sunny, warm but not hot, weather for stopping by all of our camp favorite classes again. Alums enjoyed Pickleball, Canoeing, Metal Jewelry, Cooking, Archery, Riflery, High Ropes, Mahjong, Needlepoint, Tennis, and more! Highlights were a “long game” parenting seminar led by Elizabeth Pehrson, party barge rides, and Jimboy’s famous camp tour (which always details many aspects of camp you may not know about, like the sewer system). In between the fun, there was lots of time to relax on the white chairs, walk on the River Trail, and look through the archives in the Office.

Banquet Celebrations

We couldn’t let the Reunion go by without having a Banquet! The Dining Hall was decked out, giveaways were prepared, and we sang “Hail Greystone Hail” as the night began. This Banquet was extra special because we honored some of Greystone’s finest who reached big milestones in their camp careers. There wasn’t a dry eye in the room! No Banquet is complete without awards, and our staff also gave paper plate awards to the alums who shone in their activities earlier in the day. No doubt these are now in places of honor in homes across the country! Of course, we had to end with singing our team songs as the cumulative scores from over 106 years were announced (Odds are winning by a small margin right now!).

The Best Talent Show All Year

These alums do not play around when it comes to their Talent Show acts! After Banquet, we headed down to the Pavilion for a night full of singing, dancing, skits, and lots of laughter. Our alumnae brought back old favorites, introduced new acts, and entertained us for hours. The fun didn’t end at the last act, though - a huge crowd stuck around for an epic dance party to finish the night. We’ll be talking about “Defying Gravity” and “No Air” for a LONG time to come!

Stumblers on the River Trail

Even with the late night, we had a big crowd show up to walk or run the River Trail as they “paid the price for the promise of the prize” to get their Stumblers steps in. The mist on the fall-colored mountains made for a picture-perfect morning! We finished up the Reunion, fittingly, with church up at Council Fire, singing our favorite hymns, praying the Lord’s Prayer, and hearing from Elizabeth and Heather once again. After the “Doxology” was sung, hugs were given all around, and our alums headed back out into their “real world” lives.

Supporting the Great Day Fund

We saved the best for last - the whole weekend served as a fundraiser for the Great Day Fund, and between registration fees, staff donating their weekend pay, and a generous match from Jimboy and Dr. Margaret, we raised over $90,000 for camper scholarships! Because of the generosity of our alumnae and staff, more girls will get to experience the magic of Greystone, and that is what it’s all about. The Great Day Fund accepts donations all year long, so if you missed out on this Reunion, you can still be a part of the good work the Lord is doing here at camp! Consider supporting the fun with your end-of-year gifting, and join us in paving the way for future generations.

We will keep these Reunion memories with these friends safely for a long time to come. Thank you to our alums who made the effort to come back to Greystone and support the Great Day Fund. We hope we’ll see you at our next one!
