If you’re anything like us, this time of year can drive you crazy! We’re close enough to camp that you can taste it, but there’s still a ways to go (94 days until our gates open for the first time, to be precise!). You know you’ll get your Penpal in the mail next month, but it’s too early to start packing, and still a little too far away to begin your countdown in earnest.

So what’s a Greystone Girl to do when she is bursting for camp to be here already, but it’s still February? A lot of things as it turns out! Today we’re sharing the ultimate can’t-wait-for-camp to-do list for you to reference whenever the summer is on your mind but you can’t really start preparing yet.

So go ahead and start checking things off today, or just save this page for your time of need. Know that there are campers all over the country doing the same, who are just as excited for camp as you are!

  1. Shop for Penpal stationary. You’ll receive your Penpal in the mail in March, but in the meantime, go ahead and prepare for all that letter-writing by stocking up on some cute new stationary. You can make your own, or buy a fresh set. Don’t forget the stamps!
  2. Binge-watch camp videos! Our Vimeo page is packed with videos that will get you by until you can be here yourself. Not sure where to start? These 10 videos are sure to get you excited for the summer to come!
  3. Brush up on a little Greystone history. We turned 100 a few years ago, and released pages and pages of fun camp facts and figures, many of which we bet you’ve never seen! Don’t miss our timeline, 100 things that make Greystone what it is, a list of all the Banquet themes through the years, and a look at the greatest hits of each decade at camp. You can also meet some of the influential people who’ve called camp home, and see some of our favorite fashion moments.
  4. Join a group to meet camp friends in your area. These growing groups are a chance to ask questions, get recommendations, and connect with Greystone families near you. We have groups for many of our major cities, and a Greystone Parent group!
  5. Start practicing camp-skills. It may sound silly, but there are so many important camp skills you can start incorporating in your daily life at home! Our updated preparing for camp page is a great place to start, but we’ve also done New Camper Blog posts on this topic.
  6. Incorporate a little bit of camp-fun into your routine! Camp not coming fast enough? Bring it to you! There are so many ways to do this, but what about eating ice cream on Sundays, clapping your hands and claiming the day when you wake up, or going on a Stumblers walk as a family? Starting the day with reading our Daily Devotion is a great place to begin. No matter your favorite part of Greystone, we bet you can bring it home with you!
  7. Listen to camp music, and make some camp recipes. Continuing the theme of number 6, bring camp to you with Greystone playlists and recipes. Make it a family affair!
  8. Think through your camp goals and dreams. Make this your most intentional session yet by doing a little prep-work beforehand! What skills do you want to learn in your classes? What goals do you want to claim for yourself? What about making a camp bucket-list for all of the fun, crazy things you want to do as a cabin? Now is the time to start dreaming!
  9. Fine-tune your performances. If you ask us, it’s never too early to start writing down your ideas for your cabin Lip Sync, or to nail-down your Mini Talent Show act.
  10. Start on your lists. This is a great time to think through what you’re going to need to pack for camp (and figure out what you still need!), and what activities you might want to take. New to camp, and not sure where to start? Our Greystone Dictionary and Helpful Hints pages are chock-full of good information!
  11. Listen to our new Greystone podcast! We think pretty much anyone would love the Green and Gold Campcast, but if you’re a little camp-sick, this was made for you! We’ve posted the first two episodes, but more will be coming throughout the spring. They are must-listens!
  12. Catch up on old posts. We have years of archives waiting for you! You can see behind-the-scenes looks at the summer, New Camper Blogs, old Sparks magazines, and lots, lots more!
  13. Make sure you never miss an update! Our Instagram and the Blog are the first place we post any exciting news about the summer ahead. We’ll be posting our 2022 Staff Profiles on the Blog very soon, so subscribe so you get them sent straight to your inbox!
