We have a great plan to operate our activities this summer, and a new schedule we’re so excited about!
Since you’ll be teaching groups of campers who are not in your family, plan to wear a mask during your activity, and to remain 6 ft apart from campers whenever possible. You’ll also be responsible for cleaning your activity area as needed in between classes. We’ll teach you everything you need to know about running your activity during Orientation, but those are the big safety measures you’ll need to follow.
Great question, and it’s easy - just check our list here! All classes will look similar from the outside; the difference comes in who you will be teaching. Family classes will just have one cabin group of campers coming at a time, and Neighborhood classes will have multiple cabins - pretty simple!
In the most basic sense, no - you will be engaging with campers, teaching them skills, and helping them to have fun no matter which kind of class you’re in.
The difference comes in who you’ll be teaching; in Family classes you’ll just have one cabin group of campers, and in Neighborhood classes you’ll have multiple cabin groups doing the activity at the same time. Depending on the class and the session, campers may come to your class multiple times a week, or just once during a session, and you’ll learn how to run the best class ever no matter what the case may be!
So many things! In this new schedule, you’ll have fewer classes per day, and each class will be a little bit longer. This will give you more concentrated time in each class period to dive into skills and get to know the campers there - no more hearing the bell ring right when things are getting good!
Cabins will have a set schedule, which means all campers are going to try every class this summer - for the first time ever! You get the privilege (and the joy!) of introducing every single camper to your activity and showing them how amazing it is. You are going to love seeing them enjoy your class more than they even thought they would - it might even stir up a new passion in them!
On the staff side, you are going to get to know the people you’re teaching with super well over the course of the summer and will be working like a well-oiled machine in no time! This is your chance to create a department identity, to claim a goal for the summer together, or to just have time for all the inside jokes. They are going to become like your second family!
