Camp Greystone is a place where girls grow, try new things, and step into challenges with confidence, all while being surrounded by the traditions that make camp, well… camp. One of our favorite ways to celebrate that growth is through the levels and awards that mark each step along the way. Whether this is your very first summer walking through the gates or your seventh year climbing the hill to Council Fire, we can’t wait for you to jump into the fun, meaningful traditions that make earning patches and honors such a special part of the Greystone experience!
At Greystone, patches are all about growth and achievement! Across our activity areas from Archery and Riding to Waterpark and Fine Arts, campers challenge themselves, learn, and improve every day. In many classes, girls can progress through skill levels, and when they do, we celebrate their accomplishments at Council Fire. Girls earn patches through passing levels in their classes, and hearing your name called at Council Fire is one of the most unforgettable moments of the summer! These patches become keepsakes that campers collect, display, and treasure long after they leave camp.
Beyond our level awards, we have special honors that speak to the heart of camp life. These two awards are given at our Main Camp session.
This honor reflects the essence of camp: upholding the Honor Code and living out the character traits of the Honor Council pledge: sincerity, courage, honesty, kindness, and truth. During Council Fires throughout the summer, our community nominates girls who have truly embodied these traits in the last week. This is the highest award given at Council Fire, and we love celebrating how campers have grown in character at camp.
At Main Camp, our oldest campers have the opportunity to join our Honor Council Leadership Program. This group stands out not only for their years of experience but for their leadership within the community, living out the values we teach and inspiring others around them. This session-long program focuses on godly servant leadership through sessions with mentors and service in the camp community. Campers participate and assist counselors as “girl helpers” in our activity programs or choose to serve in other ways like helping at Candy Shoppe, sweeping the Dining Hall, or giving a tour to a prospective family. This program is a significant commitment of time during their Senior year, and we love seeing the Honor Council grow as they live out the lessons of servant leadership here at camp.
At the end of each session, we host our Banquet, a special celebration of accomplishments in both skill and character! Each activity area selects a few campers to honor, recognizing things like:
These awards highlight not just what campers do, but how they do it…and these awards bring encouragement and joy to all who receive them. Banquet awards are some of the highest honors we give at camp, and receiving one is a very big deal!
We’re thrilled to continue one of our newest traditions for Summer 2026… the Pennant Program! Introduced in 2025, this tradition has already become something campers are looking forward to in 2026.
Pennants are large, “old school”-style felt pennants given to campers who have attended Greystone for three years or more. At a special Council Fire presentation, we have a “Passing of the Pennants” ceremony, complete with a bagpipe processional and the joyful recognition of each camper’s years of attendance.
Once campers receive their pennant, it becomes a blank canvas for patches, badges, buttons, and awards from each year they’ve been at Greystone - a tangible, beautiful reminder of all they’ve experienced, learned, and achieved. Future campers will continue receiving pennants in the years to come, and because each pennant is unique to that camper’s journey, it becomes a meaningful keepsake to bring home. We encourage girls to personalize their pennants and make them their own, and it’s been so fun to see their creativity shine!
At Greystone, awards are never just about the trophy, patch, or pennant. They’re about growth, joy, perseverance, and community. We celebrate every girl for her efforts and the light she brings to camp, whether she’s earning her first patch or stepping into a leadership role.
As we prepare for Summer 2026, we’re so excited to carry on these traditions and to continue building new ones like the Pennant Program. Here’s to another summer of celebrating these memories that will last a lifetime!
