Any COVID updates needed for our 2022 summer will be sent out in the spring before camp.

Staff Policies

We hire the very best staff every summer, and this year is no exception. To be on staff at Greystone is a true act of service, and this year, our staff are jumping in full force to be on our team in every way possible. They are committed to our mission and vision (like always) but are also committing to our COVID policies and procedures as well.

Vaccination

We are encouraging all of our staff to get vaccinated as a means of protecting our community this summer. As of now, 95% of our staff have received their first vaccine and will be fully vaccinated by the summer! We are so grateful for our staff and the steps they are taking to protect our campers and community.

Staying on Property

During the summer, our staff receive time-off from their fun (but demanding) summer job. Right now, we anticipate that all staff will stay on property for the majority of their day off. Vaccinated staff will be able to enjoy short trips off camp property for very limited activities (like picking up take-out food or going on a hike), but otherwise, will stay at camp. This will ensure that we can keep our “bubble” safe and intact throughout the summer.

We have a group of local staff that work tirelessly during the summer to ensure camp “runs” smoothly (like our office, maintenance, housekeeping, and program specialists). These adults will monitor their health and will be screened regularly when arriving for work. All of these workers will stay physically distanced from our camp community and wear a mask if interacting with our campers or summer staff.

Testing and Quarantine

Much like our campers, our staff will quarantine and complete a Health Log prior to arriving at camp. Unvaccinated staff will come to camp with a negative PCR test. Vaccinated staff will come to camp with their vaccination card. After they arrive, we will test all unvaccinated staff prior to the start of the summer and before each session. We will also continue to monitor our entire group’s health during the summer. Making sure we start the summer with a healthy staff, and keep them healthy while they are here, will ensure your daughter arrives to a healthy community!

Training

Prior to each summer, we enjoy a week-long Orientation with our counselor team in which we train them on all parts of their summer job. This year, we are lengthening our (already robust!) Orientation to add additional training in areas of health and safety, COVID policies, risk mitigation, and more.

Masking

Just like our campers, our staff will wear masks when they are outside of their Family and unable to distance.

Co-Counselors

We will be placing two counselors in most cabins at our longer sessions this summer, adding in an extra staff member to care for your daughter. Double the counselor fun! You can read more about this on our Health and Safety information page.

Health Monitoring

Our staff will health monitor during the session, much like our campers. We will keep a close eye on our counselors (just like we do every summer!), and we will have regular check-ins with them to ensure that they are staying healthy. If we are concerned about the health of any of our staff members, our Health Hut nurses will evaluate that counselor right away.
