Great Camps for Boys

We’re asked all the time, “What camp would you recommend for my son?” It’s a great question and one that we are always happy to talk through… but the answer is not always simple!

There are many amazing boys camps, all of which will provide wonderful experiences. We don’t have one (or even two!) recommendations, because every child is different and will feel drawn to different places. We strongly believe that there is a camp out there for everyone, but every camp may not be the right fit for you!

Do your homework on any prospective camp (check out their website, get their promotional material, ask your friends, talk to the directors). They should be ACA-certified (a camping association that assures basic levels of safety) and have a clearly articulated vision (a philosophy that underlies the camp experience). There should be an experienced leadership team that is consistent from year to year. You need to “feel good” about every interaction - pay attention to your instincts!

Once you have zeroed in on your favorites, talk to the director or (even better) visit and take a tour. This is the best way to answer any remaining questions and put your mind at ease.

Are there camps we like? Absolutely! This is a partial list of wonderful camps that we know personally, or that we know our Greystone brothers attend each year. They provide different experiences with different visions. This list only includes boys camps (not co-ed).

At the end of the day, there’s no substitue for doing your research, talking to friends and other families (our Parent Facebook page has chatted about this topic recently!), and then listening to your gut.

No matter which camp you choose, your sons will have the opportunity to get away from technology, make new friends, and grow in every way. We believe in the power of summer camp, and not just for girls!
