Our year-round Greystone team is small, but mighty, and none of the camp magic could happen without all the care and dedication of this incredible crew. We don’t see turnover very often, so it’s bittersweet when we have to wave a coworker on to their next adventure.
Diane, Jamie, and Meredith all shifted away from their roles at camp after the summer, and we couldn’t let the moment pass without recognizing them one more time for all the ways they made this place better. We know you love these three as much as we do, so join us in thanking them and wishing them well!
First up: Diane Culler, who is reaching a well-earned retirement after serving as our Admissions Director for 23 (!) years. A core member of our office team, if you called our camp number anytime in that period, you probably heard her friendly voice.
She served our camp families well with her keen Wait List advice and encyclopedic knowledge of camp processes and systems. Diane is the one you want at every party and in your corner, and we are glad she was in ours for so many years. Camp parents, we know you’re going to miss Diane as much as we do, but we are excited for her to enter this next phase and get to go to as many UT Vols football games as her schedule will allow!
Jamie Hutchinson, our beloved Head Nurse, is also retiring after over 20 years of faithful, tireless service up at the Health Hut. There is no one more giving, loving, or servant hearted than Jamie, and she brought an “above and beyond spirit” to every aspect of caring for our community.
If you think the Health Hut or the Library are cute and welcoming, you have Jamie and her crafting skills to thank! Jamie made the Health Hut a place everyone wanted to be, and our nurses are particularly going to miss her. At the same time, we couldn’t be more thrilled for her to enjoy retirement at the lake with her family and dogs. Jamie, I think we speak for everyone when we say that you have earned a break - well done, good and faithful!
Finally, we want to recognize Meredith Bird, who served as our Junior Camp Program Director for the last four years. If you were one of our Junior campers or staff members during that time, you know that Meredith brings a little sparkle to everything she touches!
In her time on our year-round team, Meredith brought fun new classes to Junior Camp (STEM and Strings ‘n Things, just to name two!) and hired four incredible summers of staff who introduced a new generation of Greystone Girls to the camp Bubble. Meredith loves camp and loves the people in her life well - and if she has only ever met you once, she would consider you one of those people! We are so grateful for her and can’t wait to cheer her on in her calling as a nutrition counselor.
We are so glad this is not a true goodbye for these three, just a “see you later.” Diane, Jamie, and Meredith, we speak for our whole community when we say a huge thank you for all the ways you have made Greystone better!
