Our Summer 2024 Theme Verse

Each year at Greystone, we choose a theme verse to anchor our summer; it is one of our favorite traditions!

This verse is woven throughout multiple aspects of camp, starting with our pre-season preparations and staff training and continuing through Morning Assembly talks with our camp minister and a parting gift at Banquet. The theme verse is always an encouragement to our camp team, and we pray that it cements itself in our campers’ hearts and that the Lord will use it in their lives. Maybe one day they’ll hear that verse, and it will take them right back to the memories and lessons of that summer at Greystone!

To take you behind the curtain, it took us a long time to choose our summer 2024 theme verse! For weeks, we were stuck between multiple verses and topics; they were all so good and felt so relevant - it felt impossible to choose one. In the end, we prayed about it, handed out ballots to our Head Staff team, and trusted that God would do the rest.

We couldn’t be more thrilled to announce Isaiah 41:10 as our theme verse for our 105th summer!

“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10

It’s pretty clear why we loved this one, right? Fear is so present in our lives, its voice often sounding louder and sharper than that of the truth. Every year, I’m more aware of how intertwined my thoughts, emotions, and reactions are with fear. It seems to always be lurking under the surface, ready to interject doubt and ask the question:“what if?”

And yet, this passage points to good news for fearful people like you and me. The solution to our worries is not to “be stronger” or “get it together.” We don’t have to fear because of four simple words: “I am your God.” The answer to our fears is a person - our present, personal, patient, and all-powerful Father. He is the strength, help, and righteousness of his weak and sinful people (all of us!). In Him, we are upheld, comforted, and never alone.

That is the good news we get to celebrate all summer together, Greystone Girls! So join us as we write this verse on our hearts this summer and beyond. Put it on your fridge, memorize it, or send it to a friend.

We pray that summer 2024 will be one where we see Jesus and His goodness more clearly, bringing all of our fears into the light. To God be the glory!
