Carmelized Onion Dip


  • 2 yellow onions sliced very thin
  • 2 T canola or veggie oil
  • 2 T butter
  • 4 ounces room temperature neufchatel cheese
  • 1⁄2 c Hellman’s light mayonnaise
  • 1⁄2 c reduced fat sour cream (Breakstone or Daisy brands work best)
  • 1⁄8 - 1⁄4 t cayenne pepper
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • Dash of Worcestershire sauce
  1. In a saute pan over medium heat, melt butter and add oil.
  2. Add onions and stir slightly. Let sit and watch to caramelize, stirring just a few times.
  3. Meanwhile, in a medium bowl, stir or whisk together neufchastel, mayo, and sour cream. Add seasonings and contents of saute pan. Serve warm or at room temperature. May be refrigerated and reheated slowly in a microwaveable-safe dish.
