The fall brings a busyness like no other and it can feel like there are “infinite” places to explore and new things to try! This is often reflected in the rhythm of college.
College presents clubs, sororities, sports, Bible studies, student government, and much more. These opportunities can and often do feel limitless. It can be hard to select just a few to be involved in. If you could have seen my calendar freshman (or any year) of college, you would know that I struggled to commit to just a limited number of activities, and I was often overwhelmed by the seemingly “infinite” possibilities presented to me.
For those of us not in college, fall continues to have a similar overwhelming feeling because those “perfect fall weekends” only last so long and we want to make the most out of them. Therefore, once again, the calendar becomes so full, just like college. And the question that plagues us all is: when the possibilities feel “infinite,” how do you know which one, or ones, to pick and stick to?
We find ourselves weighing pros and cons when making decisions in the face of “infinite” possibilities. Camp, like all good things, is a place of possibility. It feels like those first few weeks of Freshman Year (in a good way). It is a place to grow, a place to discover those little things about yourself that you never knew existed. It is the place where God’s love meets us in a tangible way as we come excited to be unapologetically ourselves.
I write all of this to say: When the possibilities feel infinite during this season, Greystone is thinking of you as you are considering the possibilities of what the future holds. Read what some of our past counselors have to say as they reflect on their “Why Greystone” in a sea of endless summer possibilities.
“The best part about working at Greystone is getting to leave the outside world for a couple of months and be fully present in the camp experience”
“This summer taught me so much about patience, responsibility, and leadership. I gained so many meaningful friendships and memories. Being in a Christ centered environment made it easy for everyone to connect”
“Be prepared to laugh a lot, smile all the time, and spend time with the best kids ever!!”
“I became more patient, adaptable, independent, and confident”
“I’m glad I worked at Greystone because it allowed me to reset from the year and recenter my life on things that are most important to me. Pouring into others for the whole summer helped me to also pour into myself and I can’t imagine a better summer.”
“DO IT! Don’t look back on this summer wondering, “What if?” A summer on staff is an unforgettable experience with memories to last a lifetime.”
“It is beyond worth it. Greystone is the kind of place where anyone has the potential to be the best version of themselves while pouring into the community around them and truly learning what it means to love well”
So, as the leaves are swirling around and you take in the goings-on of the current semester or current craziness of life, engage with the possibility of a life-changing, delightful, and inspiring summer at Camp Greystone in the Mountains of North Carolina where the sun shines (even if it appears in the form of liquid sunshine) and where you can experience the joy of flourishing in Christ-like community. Find more information here and apply for the summer of a lifetime.
