One of the things we love most about a Greystone summer is the way faith is woven into everyday camp life. Girls start the day with a short devotion at Morning Assembly, pray over six times a day as a collective camp group, talk about faith with their counselors during cabin devotions, and have opportunities to ask questions and grow in their understanding of who God is.
Our Bible classes are another special part of that experience. These classes give campers the chance to slow down, dig a little deeper, and learn from people who know and love Greystone girls so well. This summer, we were once again grateful to have two familiar faces continuing to make these classes meaningful and impactful.
At June and Main Camp, Mrs. Chris stepped away from the Pool for a few periods each day to teach Bible class, something our campers always love.
This summer, she walked girls through a section of Jesus’ life in the New Testament, helping them see both who Jesus was and what they could learn from the stories they were studying. Campers explored passages including the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus calming the storm, the feeding of the crowd, Peter’s testimony, and the Transfiguration.
Each section included a verse for campers to memorize so they could remember where to find the story again later. And because it wouldn’t be Bible with Mrs. Chris without them, there were plenty of her famous hand motions to help everything stick!
That is part of what makes her class so special. Mrs. Chris has a wonderful way of taking big picture Biblical truths and helping girls remember them in a way that feels accessible and fun.
Our Junior and August campers were able to learn from her too, as Mrs. Chris led Morning Assembly during both of these sessions. And yes, her famous “Fear” song made an appearance once again this year.
At Main Camp, Sandi’s Senior Bible continued to be one of the most popular classes for our oldest girls.
This summer, Sandi taught from a new curriculum she wrote called Unfiltered: Finding a Gospel Identity in a Curated World. The topic felt especially relevant for our teenagers, giving them space to think about identity, technology, social media, and what it looks like to ground their lives in the Gospel instead of the messages they hear from the world around them.
The classes included thoughtful theological discussion alongside practical conversations about how girls can manage technology and its influence in their everyday lives.
Hundreds of campers once again signed up for Sandi’s Bible class, and it is easy to understand why. She has a special gift for making Scripture feel understandable, personal, and applicable. Girls are encouraged to ask questions, think deeply, and consider how what they are learning can shape their lives long after camp is over.
We want Greystone to be a place where girls can grow in every way, and their spiritual growth is an important part of that.
Bible classes are only one piece of growing your faith at camp, but these classes give girls something especially valuable: dedicated time to learn, ask questions, memorize Scripture, and hear from trusted adults who care deeply about them.
We are so thankful for Mrs. Chris and Sandi, for the preparation and heart they pour into these classes, and for the way they continue to point generations of Greystone girls toward Christ.
Our hope is that campers leave Greystone with truths they can remember, questions they are excited to keep exploring, and a faith that continues to grow long after the summer ends. This is the heart of what we do at camp!
