It is a delight to see how quickly the girls have settled into camp. They are confident finding their classes (running as soon as the bell rings), making new friends, loving the food (even the Salad Bar), and singing loudly after every meal. Last night, they put on great performances in the Cabin Lip Sync. Every girl anticipated their moment on the stage and encouraged each other with loud cheers. Their enthusiasm is off the charts, and such enthusiasm spreads like wildfire…we love this Junior Camp group and all agree it is the best camp session ever!

As today is Memorial Day, Jimboy briefly spoke at the Flag this morning about the importance of this day. He reminded the girls about respect for those who have sacrificed their lives for our country and the importance of taking time to honor them. As a special treat, two campers (Summit and Lizzie from CU1) sang the national anthem (a camp goal for them)! At Breakfast Club, Jimboy encouraged the girls to grow mentally by waking up, clapping their hands, and saying, “It’s going to be a great day, and I feel terrific!” This simple (silly) thing helps! We have a mental shift that makes a difference and builds the positive attitude all Greystone Girls share!

The skies are cloudy and there is a good chance of light rain today and tomorrow, but do not fear; rain at camp is delightful! We are ready for anything. If it is just drizzling, everything goes on as normal. We call it “liquid sunshine,” and it is so fun to play in! If it is raining hard, we adapt the activity locations, often joining classes for games in the Fort. Many classes continue as normal in every weather situation (except lightning). We have a lightning detection system that alerts the camp if there is danger of lightning at camp. As long as Perry has not sounded the alarm, we let the girls fish by the lake or jump off the Blob in the Waterpark. The rain does not slow us down at Greystone; a rainy day at Greystone is still a great day at camp!

Today, we will email you about scanned letters and Closing Day. The scanned letter will be from your camper, so check it out! You can get it in two ways: from the Campanion App or your Greystone Account (details are in the email). We treat every decision at camp with prayer and intentionality, and many of our communications directly result from parents’ feedback in previous years. We will send this year’s survey at the end of the session and seriously consider every suggestion.

Tonight’s Evening Program will be a big one: CARNIVAL! Dinner and EP are combined into one event as we set everything up like a State Fair. The girls will have an hour and a half of pure joy running from the food booths to the inflatable rides. They will feast on BBQ Sliders, French Fries, Grilled Cheese Sandwiches, Chicken ‘n Waffles, Watermelon, Popcorn, Funnel Cakes, Cotton Candy, and Ice Cream. We bring in six gigantic inflatable rides ranging from a bounce house to an obstacle course. Throughout it all, we have music playing and the girls dancing. It is a true highlight of Junior Camp every year!
