When the summer winds down, and our year-round crew is getting back into the swing of our off-season schedule, one of the things we all love is finding a good book to read. Often, our Head Staff team talks books; from exchanging them, to recommending them to each other, to reading them together, books are something we all enjoy.

Check out what our year-rounders are excited about reading this fall:

  • Laura: Animal Weapons by Douglas Emlen: “I heard about it on NPR, and it’s all about how animals defend themselves.”
  • Katie: Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen: “I go back to this book over and over. Just can’t get enough!”
  • Caroline G.: The Ministry of Ordinary Places by Shannan Martin: “I just finished this not long ago. Love reading with a big cup of coffee.”
  • Ellen-Anne: You and Me Forever by Frances Chan: “I come back to this book all of the time - it’s so good! I love reading with a cup of ginger tea.”
  • Elizabeth: Floret Farm’s Cut Flower Garden by Erin Benzakein and Julie Chai: “This book is the best for planning a dreamy garden.”
  • Smith: James Herriot’s Cat Stories by James Herriot: “I was looking through boxes of books last week, and found one from my Mom from 1994! I just started reading it.”
  • Alli: Potty Training in 3 Days by Brandi Brucks: “Can you tell I have a toddler? Wish me luck!”
  • Lisa: In This Mountain by Jan Karon: “I’ve been reading this when I’m not reading Practical Horseman magazine (of course!).”
  • Catherine: Becoming by Michelle Obama: “I listened to this on audio and loved it. Especially loved listening while drinking some Rosemary Lemonade from our local coffee shop.”
  • Jamie: Beneath a Scarlet Sky by Mark Sullivan: “I’ve been reading this with a cup of Chai. The nurses all read this book during the summer, and I’m loving it!”
  • Sarah: All Rise for the Honorable Perry T. Cook by Leslie Connor: “Just finished this middle grade novel and really liked it. A Grande Chai for me when reading!”
