The weather continues to be absolutely perfect (warm, breezy, no chance of rain), the girls are wildly enthusiastic about every little detail of camp life, the classes are energetic and full of fun, the kitchen is turning out some wonderful meals, and are sleeping well (I think the entire camp was asleep by 9:15). Opening day is very important to the success of a camp experience and yesterday was a slam dunk. We are thankful and are reaping benefits from the good start.

Part of a successful camp experience is keeping in touch with your girls… hand written letters and emails are both appreciated (but the hand written letter is the most highly appreciated thing they can get). Many of you wrote cards and letters to be delivered this first week of camp, soon you will depend on the mail service (anticipate a 3-4 day delivery time). We encourage the effort of writing the letters and emails, they are treasured by the campers and make for a great treat every day.

What’s Happening:

  • Dinner last night was Spaghetti, big salad bar, roasted green beans, and Oreo Cream Pie.
  • Breakfast: fried ham and apples, fresh biscuits, big fruit and yogurt bar, cereal, oatmeal
  • Lunch: Sloppy Joe’s and tots
  • Dinner: Chicken Enchilada’s, Croquette’s, Saffron Rice
  • EP: Tentalow Lip Syncs

The next two nights EPs (Lip Synchs with different age groups) are AWESOME!!! The preparations are a lot of fun and give the girls something to do whenever the cabin is waiting around. Everyone is excited about showing off their amazing moves… so obviously, the feeling just before the show is electric: the girls huddled together making their final plans with wide eyes and big smiles. They take their positions under the bright lights with giddy excitement. It is so much fun! The acts are short and “punchy”, always working up to a big finish. As the girls run off stage, showered by a ROAR of applause. They hug, jump up and down, squeal with delight, and chatter without ceasing as they review how the act was performed… then run back to the “pit” to watch the next act. It is my favorite EP of the session for the effect it has with the girls!

Thank you for making camp a part of your summer.

Thank you for reading the blog.

Thank you for appreciating the unique experience camp provides for your girls.

It is an honor and a pleasure to have your girls at Greystone!
