Horsin’ Around

As we joyfully celebrate our 100th year here in North Carolina’s Blue Ridge Mountains, I’m excited to announce a brand new program in riding. We are calling it “Horsin’ Around.”

This new facet of riding is going to be a low pressure, lots of fun, on the ground, intimate time with all the Greystone horses. We realize that not every girl wants to be in the saddle every time she is around a horse but certainly enjoys the interaction and affectionate time spent with these wonderful animals. We have created this program with this in mind.

It can be a welcome change to the seasoned rider and at the same time create an environment for those not as familiar with horses to develop the love and confidence that brings so much joy to a girl! It’s also a great place to make new camp friends ! Also, included is one skill level appropriate lesson and one trail ride.

As we head into this historic year, we’re excited to offer this brand new program. It’s going to be a great new feature that will broaden the campers scope of the horse world. We look forward to seeing you!

Thunderhead

The Thunderhead Western Trail Riding Program is all set for another great year. Miles of private, pristine mountain trails, happy horses, the Green River, campfires and cookouts all await the start of camp.

The Thunderhead Western Trail Riding Program offers such an exclusive experience. Aside from the picturesque trail rides, this program encompasses plenty of outdoor fun. The girls take care of their own horse. They cook and eat around the campfire in the wilderness!

Thunderhead also has over a mile of frontage on the cleanest, clearest river in western N.C. There is a sandy beach that accesses the “swimmin hole” where the horses are routinely invited to join the girls. I wish every girl could experience Thunderhead at least once.

Hunt Seat Equitation

There are many campers that prefer to get down to business and hone their abilities and skills. That is why we teach hunt seat.

We have brought in many new horses to fill the requirements of a top notch lesson program! The hunt seat lesson program is designed for campers of different skill levels and we take appropriate placement very serious in order for a girl to have the most safe and rewarding experience possible!

Our Riding Director, Lisa, has spent most of her life riding, competing and teaching hunt seat and nothing is more important to her than the girl and the horse and the right combination of the two. It is a broadening opportunity for girls to have so many different wonderful horses to ride.
The hunt seat lesson program at Camp Greystone is much more than a summer lesson program. It is a chance to grow in skill, knowledge and love of the horse, especially if taken everyday at Main Camp.

Whether your interest is lessons in the ring, fun interaction, or wilderness adventure from beginners to advanced, we have it covered.

Move quickly, sign ups for Riding close May 1st. To sign up for any of the Riding programs, login to your Greystone account and fill out the Extra fee activity form for Riding. If you have any questions, you can ask Lisa at riding@campgreystone.com. Can’t wait to see everyone this summer at the barn!
