Staff Blog: What I Want to Tell My Camp Friends

To get straight to the point….. I miss all of my counselor friends SO stinking much… like so much.

Greystone’s 100th summer happened to be my very first year at camp; to say I was nervous on the first day, would be an understatement. I found Greystone on Google and coming into it, I not only didn’t know anyone, but I also had no idea what to expect.

In saying all of that, Greystone blew me away (in the best way possible) and I met some of my best friends there. Seriously.

Since being home, so many people have asked me about my time at camp. The most common question is, “what was your favorite part about camp?”…

And my answer is easy. “the other counselors”.

YOU GUYS were and continue to be my sweetest memories from my summer at Greystone.

Don’t get me wrong, I will NEVER forget my sweet girls, the cabin dance parties, delicious meals, hopeful devotions, A M A Z I N G evening programs, or even the iconic mini talent shows! … but man oh man, my counselor friends MADE my experience.

And with that, I just want to tell you all a few things:

First things first- thank you. Thank you for taking me in and being my friend. Thank you for early morning workouts, candy shop dates, and sharing your books. Thank you for listening to my struggles and encouraging me through it all. Thank you for dancing, singing, talking, crying, and laughing with me daily. Thank you for spending ALL summer with me!

Secondly, I miss every single one of you. Seriously, there are SO many days I am just sitting in class, thinking about when and how I can take a cross-country road trip to visit everyone. From Florida to Alabama, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Virginia, Kentucky and every single state in between; I just want to come visit you all! I miss you guys and I want to be reunited.

Lastly, don’t forget how much you are loved. Not by me (even though I love you sooooo very much), not by head staff (even though we all know they love us immensely), BUT by our FATHER. He loves you in your highs, he loves you in your lows, and he wants YOU through it all.

Romans 8:37-39 says “No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

NOTHING can separate us from His abounding and steadfast love. Wow. Lets rejoice in that and use it to love others!

I miss you all so much BUT I love you all so much more. <3
