If I Were Not on Greystone's Head Staff

Whether you’ve only seen one Counselor Talent show or, like me, dozens over many years, you’ve probably seen the If I Were Not a Greystone Counselor skit. A line of counselors stand on the stage, representing anything from the silly (the blob) to the classic (Laura with a clipboard) to the slightly outrageous (men staff).

Today, we’re doing a real-life version of that skit with the Head Staff! If you’re on Head Staff, it can be a little tough (and ridiculous-sounding) to talk about what you do at camp. Plan large group activities for all of camp? Yes. Figure out how to communicate with parents and campers all year long? Also yes. Dress in silly costumes? Definitely. Plunge toilets? Regularly. Make camp amazing? ALWAYS.

With that broad of a skill set, it can be tough to imagine what this talented group of people would be doing if they weren’t on Head Staff. Here are some of their ideas…

Jimboy

Dogs love me and Dr. Margaret’s parents own a farm… so I’d be a farmer, drive a truck filled with barking dogs!

Dr. Margaret

I love making spaces feel welcoming and look beautiful. If I wasn’t the Health Director, I would be an interior designer!

Laura

I would be a full-time nanny for my NEW grandson, Harter!

Sarah

As I love working on our camp events, I’d open a full service traveling event company where you could get your event t-shirts printed and sorted, carnival rides ordered and delivered, photobooth set-up (camp dogs included), and even live musical entertainment to perform - a one-stop shop!

Ellen-Anne

My guilty pleasure is tending to my succulents, so I would love to have a succulent nursery and take care of all the plants!

Cat

I would work at Chick-fil-a, because I love Christian chicken and lemonade and everything they do and I could rock saying “my pleasure” all day.

Carol

I have a huge love for creating fun experiences, music, and sports, so I would run sound for a major league sports team!

Katie

I would host a fun cooking show where I would teach people how to make fun dishes for parties and groups - could even have themed episodes like Tailgating and Derby Day!

Smith

I would teach cats how to pick up trash, and would take my traveling cat trash pick-up service on the road!

Alli

As someone with a secret love of writing and grammar and not-so-secret love of cooking, I would be a food writer for a magazine!
