The Greatest Showman… who has seen it?

If you haven’t, watch it today! I absolutely LOVE IT, mostly because of the opening sequence, which I think is the best movie opening I have ever seen . Hugh Jackman (the ringmaster) is under the grandstand just before the show begins. The audience is stomping their feet in time to the music and he is still as a rock. His adrenaline is pumping and he is about to run into the center of the circus tent and open the Greatest Show on Earth… so cool! I feel just like that… the counselors feel like that… we hope you feel that way too.

Camp is the best, most fun, most inspirational, most sublime and joy filled experience that a person can have. It is an experience marked by friends that are celebrated from the first nervous introductions on the softball field to the last tear streaked goodbye’s on closing day. It is an experience marked by nonstop fun in activities that allow us to fly through the air, learn how to create art, hone sports skills, and play with puppies. An experience marked by unexpected moments of delight (like when you first visit the ice hut and discover the surprising satisfication of a salty, crunchy “Beanito” or when you first find out how much you love a cold apple is when you are hot and sweaty). An experience marked by whole camp dance parties at assembly and peaceful naps after lunch. An experience marked by inspiration that warms our hearts and makes the love of God real in a way that is tangible. An experience that is almost perfect.

We Are Pumped! We Can’t Wait To Have You Here!!!

A few suggestions:

  • Arrive between 7:30 and 8:30. We assign your bunk, so no need to rush (but we do enjoy having fun on the softball field before we are free to go to our cabins at 8:30)
  • Wear something that can get wet (it has rained a lot, the ground is soggy).
  • Smile a lot (an easy way to make friends… look at someone and smile, see if a you aren’t chatting away in no time).
  • Get excited!

Parents… if you are looking for a great breakfast spot after dropping off, I suggest Honey and Salt or the Flat Rock Village Bakery. They are in the same little complex just 5 minutes from camp. Both are small and both are really good!

Thank you for choosing Greystone. We are honored to be a part of your summer plans. For 99 years my family has been blessed to do this work and we work hard to get better at it every single year. We think this is the Greatest Show on earth and hope you will agree!

This is going to be your best summer ever!
