Satisfaction

Last night’s play was SO CUTE!!! We could not be more proud of the Directors, Cast, and Crew who worked so very hard to bring it all together in the last minute (always exciting!).

The entire day was a huge success… from the Horse Show in the morning to the live performance of Annie in the evening, it was a perfect day. Even the weather cooperated (a big thunderstorm missed camp but cooled temperatures 10 degrees, making the picnic and EP a delight). The girls continue to pass levels and finish projects in their classes, making for a very active feeling around camp. This intensity is counterbalanced by those who just want to relax. Campers who are frantic to finish occupy the same space as girls who are mostly interested in goofing off. So much fun!

Everyone feels the finish line approaching and is enjoying that sense of satisfaction that markes every good experience.

We hope you enjoyed the Lifestream of the play. There is a tension in finding the appropriate mix of technology at camp. Providing good photographs is always a primary goal (and one that has been transformed by technology). The blog is a priority in my daily routine (a huge improvement over the mid camp director’s letter). Live video has not been a priority (but we continue to study the issue). With so many new technologies becoming available every year, we find ourselves missing the mark sometimes… and fortunately, you are very understanding. Thank you!

About the photographs… campers LOVE going through the pictures from camp… if you sit with them while they are looking you will be treated to a hundred little stories that you otherwise would not know! Campers do not always think of the blog, but if you encourage them to go through the June Camp entries you will be surprised at how much more they will share. There is so much to remember!

I love this time of camp, for campers and counselors alike it feels like everything is right with the world. Everything to look forward to and nothing to dread. NICE!

Some things that we think are worthy of consideration before your girls return home:

  • Cellphones & Screentime… the girls enjoy having rules with technology. Consider banning phones from the dinner table, limiting nightime use, and make sure you have full access to the device.
  • Conversations… the campers are loving their time with their friends and their counselors. They LOVE to talk about ANYTHING and those conversations are memorable! When you are with your girls intentionally encourage such moments when they arise. The will be many opportunities in the year, none better than the drive home from camp.
  • Tonight we will have our last Council Fire and close the evening with a vespers candle ceremony at the flag pole. Our beautiful vespers programs “bookend” the summer with the image of light and the feeling of love. Such a great moment in camp, sets us up for a BIG FINISH tomorrow.

Food today is pretty sophisticated and really delicious:

  • Breakfast was French Toast and Sausage
  • Lunch is Chicken Fingers and Curley Fries
  • Dinner is Poached Salmon with mashed potatoes

We are very busy and very happy. God is Good!
