New Video: Piggy Picnic with Jimboy

When Edith and Milly were added to the Greystone family this summer we had several questions:

  • Would anyone care… We never had pigs, would campers like them?
  • Would the pigs be smelly and mean?
  • What would happen to the pigs in the winter (would I be stuck taking care of them)?

Time for some answers!

“Would anyone care”… as it turned out the pigs were instant favorites at Farm & Garden, more relational than the chickens and full of spunky playfulness that make them delightful pets. We hope Farm & Garden will take the pigs on field trips around camp next summer (I can just imagine piggy visits to Putt Cove, Canoeing, and Fine Arts)… I secretly hope they will “join the pack” (walking around with MeMe, Murray, and Ben) that would make them famous!

“Are pigs smelly and mean”… NO!!! As it turns out they are very good pets and don’t smell even a little bit. Even their pen is kept clean (they helpfully only go to the bathroom in the back corner making cleanup a breeze!). Margaret even lets them roam freely in our house (but they don’t like wood floors… they slip on hard surfaces so they tend to prefer being outside).

“Who will take care of them”… ME!!! As it turns out it is not a hard job. More than that, it is a lot of fun. For instance, today was a beautiful sunny day and I decided to eat lunch with my “porcine pals”… a Piggy Picnic if you will… enjoy the video!
