1. I am Blessed beyond measure with the most wonderful family.

We are all involved with camp. My husband Peter retired several years ago and helps maintain the pools during the spring, summer, and fall. Nancy (daughter #1) works in the office during the off season and is the Mail Queen during the summer, plus helps in the laundry in the evening. Ellen-Anne (daughter # 2) is the Program Director and my son-in-law James works with Ronningen Design (camp’s web design company). Over the last 5 decades our family has been part of the amazing Greystone experience. From my sister Kay, who started the ball rolling as a camper in 1960 (her daughters were campers Lydia McMurphy, Catherine, and Martha Lee) to my great-niece Kinley Barfield, who will be a June Camper. My sister-in-law Elizabeth is also a nurse in the Health Hut during the summer, so the Barfield experience continues. My parents even camp back in the 80’s and Libby built them a cabin that still bears their name.

2. Friends!

I have the most faithful friends. You know who you are…from high school to camp and back again…here is a shout out to all the ole gals I love so dearly!

3. This Fall, my hubby and I have been enjoying Hello Fresh.

After years of being in food service and cooking for my family, it is SO nice to have your groceries delivered to you with instructions on how to make it happen. I love not having to think for an hour and make something new that we all enjoy :)

4. We’ve also been hard at work getting our house ready for visitors after the summer.

Many would be shocked to see our house post August Camp…the title service director only extends to my front door. From pruning to cleaning out various closets and drawers (correction: junk drawers), it’s amazing what we have found. Needless to say, we are like squirrels and freshening the house up has felt so good for not only our visitors, but for our peace of mind. My mom used to always say, “If you want to know what a person’s life is really like, look in their closet.” I guess ours is looking pretty good (at least for the next month, until the squirrels come back).

5. I LOVE a good quote.

Call it a need for inspiration, or reminder of what’s important, but I love to fill my office and home with words of wisdom from other people. One of my all time favorites that hangs in my kitchen window is, “ Most people are about as happy as they make up their minds to be”. That one is from Abraham Lincoln and boy was he right. So many times in our lives we find ourselves in situations where we have to choose happiness (not the way we really want to be…HA), what a great reminder!
