Wednesday

The cold front has pushed the rain storms East, leaving us with sunny skies and a nice breeze out of the North West. Temperatures are warm, yet we have a cool breeze… not bad!

We had pancakes and sausage links for breakfast, ALWAYS a crowd pleaser. I continue to be amazed at the great fruit bar that we serve for breakfast. I have gotten a bit addicted to the “green drink” smoothie that we serve every day. It is not that popular with the campers because it is an odd green color, but it is very satisfying and healthy (basically a bunch of fresh spinach, blue berries, yogurt, flax seeds and a little orange juice blended to smoothie consistency). Lunch will be our home made gyro’s (yes, we make our own lamb and chicken gyro meat) olives, tabbouleh, Baba gahanoush, humus, and Greek salad. Dinner is chicken piccata, pasta, and asparagus. The food is shockingly good for the entire kitchen crew just LOVES the art of cooking! For their Kitchen EP last night they did a cooking challenge where each person made “spoon” food for a competition. They judge each other’s “spoons” to see which is the best… this is after spending an entire day cooking for the whole camp. WOW.

Classes are going strongly, only one week to go and the campers are pushing hard to finish their projects and perfect their performance acts. There is a building sense of excitement for the big events that are just around the corner. The first one to hit us will be the Senior Celebration this evening.

The entire Senior group is given this night as their own talent show time… ANYONE who wants to perform an act or do a skit is encouraged to do so and EVERY cabin is required to perform as a group something (usually they sing a song). The Pavilion is nicely decorated by the “Craftsmen” who have been working on it all day long. The Seniors are dressed up in their nicest camp clothes, and the night is really quite charming. The entire group is announced to the camp one by one by Dr. Margaret, and after the entertainment is done we announce the “Queen and her Court” (those girls who have been elected by the campers as showing excellence in the four fold way of living). After the program the seniors have a big party at Whitehall (hosted by Margaret, Katie, and Lell) and enjoy a special devotion and are given cards from their counselors that are absolutely wonderful. It is a very special night, wonderfully adapted from the old tradition of the “Queens Ball”.

Thank you for your continued support and kind words. Most appreciated.
