Another Great Day

For the first time in a month I will not be blogging about news that is unknown to you… you already know what the weather at camp was like this morning, what we ate for breakfast, and what the feeling around camp is… for you now have first hand information about Greystone today. Campers and counselors are reunited with family… Main Camp is over.

Such an abrupt change is exciting (we anticipate family reunions with delight) but it is also heart wrenching (the tears at Banquet last night were heart felt). Camp friends are special in a way that is hard to express. Camp friends “stick”… they will be there for decades and even lifetimes. The girls sense this fact as they watch the banquet skit (Mary Poppins), they celebrate it as they skip down the road one last time, and they will (of course) feel the loss of such close friends keenly when they get home.

I know that this will be the first blog entry that my Main Campers will read… so I write with you in mind when I say “THANK YOU”. This was the best year ever thanks to you. The camp is now quiet and the lack of sound makes it feel like a different place. While still beautiful, it feels hollow. You might feel a bit empty as well… so remember to eat some ice cream, watch a good movie, go to sleep, then wake up with a GREAT DAY attitude.

Be thankful… you were a camper at Greystone in 2015, what a glorious memory!
