The Prize

My father used to say “You have to pay the PRICE, for the PROMISE, of the PRIZE”. In other words- nothing good comes without work.

We lived that out in our final Stumblers this morning. Not a cloud in the sky to shade us from the bright summer sun, causing us to really feel the heat as we knocked out the three mile run on the track. Four Hundred girls running at one time is an impressive sight, it really gives the “feeling” of a big time race. Some girls ran a 7 minute pace, but most kept to the languid 12 minute or even 15 minute pace. No matter what the speed, the run was rewarding… EVERYONE got a shirt.

The shirts this year are pretty cool… legitimate running shirts made from three materials (they call it a tri-weave technical fabric). The shirts are butter soft and actually feel cool to the touch! Such a shirt makes one feel smart for paying such a small price!

Next comes Sunday School and Church, then a big Sunday Dinner and long rest hour, free time (pool, water park, slip and slide are sure to be big hits on this hot summer day). This evening we will enjoy a “Camp Life” EP that is modeled off a Young Life youth group meeting.

When you google Camp Greystone, our camp website shows up in the list first… with “Christian summer camp for girls” in the description. We claim the name of Christ boldly and lift it up in a genuine way every day. Here we read scripture twice a day, pray six times a day, and go to church and sunday school… all while being “cool”. Jesus called us to live lives marked by Love and Excellence, lives that Glorify God. Camp encourages a life lived well, and at this point of the summer we see the fruit. On Sunday, we strive to honor God in a special way.. it is a very nice day.

This week will absolutely fly by. In many ways this is the last “quiet” day of the session; the big events take over tomorrow. The girls will love it all as they start dreaming of the family reunion on Friday. Write those letters today and tomorrow… then it is just email (I wouldn’t count on anything mailed on Tuesday getting here before Friday).

Thanks again for your continued support and encouragement.
