Thursday at Junior Camp

The pictures that we have this year have been amazing. I hope you have been enjoying them as much as I have! I have pulled some of my favorites of the day, along with some pictures that introduce some of our important staff that make Greystone so special. The first pictures are of my mother, Libby. Her passion is the Bible program at camp, and there is nothing she loves more than teaching the girls about Jesus! Your girls will come home having memorized the 23 Psalm, so make sure you ask them to recite it to you on the drive home!

My brother, Jimboy, is shown in a picture in the Dining Hall where he leads Breakfast Club every morning! Breakfast Club ws started by my father, Jim Daddy, many years ago. Jimboy took over when my father passed away a couple of years ago….he does a GREAT job motivating the girls to have a GREAT DAY, and FEEL TERRIFIC!! He also tells some pretty silly stories that the girls love to hear! Next is a picture of some of the kitchen staff….it takes a big crew to pull off three meals a day for 500 people…Gervais Hollowell and Alli Hundley direct the kitchen and we are so appreciative of all they do for us feeding us wonderful meals!

Next are Smith (my assistant director) and Smitty (her sister) who are in the apple cart. Every morning they drive around camp and hand out an apple snack! The girls love that!! Following are flag pictures (I love the one with the camper saluting with her teddy bear in her hand).

Our Counselor Talent Show night is next…..the “star” quality performances delighted the girls!! Then many wonderful group and individual shots follow, showing the FUN and NEW FRIENDS that camp brings!

It has been a beautiful mild day….rain is predicted for tomorrow, closing day, but not until mid day so we are praying that it will hold off until you are packed up and on your way home! Talking about closing, I will mention again that Junior Camp is officially over after our Breakfast Banquet which is about 10 AM. You may arrive anytime after 7:30 AM where you will receive your instructions about how to load up your cars.

Breakfast this morning was Oatmeal, Fresh Fruit Bar, Cereal, Scrambled Eggs, Bacon and Hash Brown Potatoes. Lunch was Taco’s in a bag….great corn chips with ground beef, salsa, lettuce, cheese, sour cream and all the fixings for a great taco salad OR eating it all mixed together in the taco bag! It was wonderful!!

Tonight we have our Camper Talent Show. The girls will show their on stage skills with skits, sign language, cheerleading, dance and more. We have learned a LOT these past 4 days and had FUN doing it!

Tomorrow the girls will wake up at 7. We will finish packing, then will have flag and our Banquet Breakfast. The Dining Hall will be decorated…they will get “favors” and a Greystone Address Book called the Green & Gold. Then they will run back to their cabins, anxious to tell you about the wonderful time that they have had this week! They have blessed US….it has been a wonderful session. Thank you for sharing these precious girls with us!
