Since 1920 we have been welcoming campers to Greystone, and every year seems to get better. Four generations of one family have made Greystone their life’s work. Offering an incredibly diverse program with the best facilities and the most dedicated counselors, Greystone is perfectly situated to exceed your expectations in every way. From the towering pine trees planted to keep you cool, to the improved cabin accommodations designed to make your time here just a little better; every aspect of Greystone shows a personal touch with much consideration. Greystone is our passion and we hope it will be yours as well.
Margaret and Jimboy Miller, IV
Jimboy (a director since 1988) has been the executive director of Greystone since 1996. He not only grew up at camp, he has worked in virtually every area of the business, from camp cook to camp director.
Ask any camper what Jimboy does and they will tell you: "He makes camp fun!" Jimboy brings simple enthusiasm to all the details of the summer… from fireworks during the carnival, to "over the top" renovations to the facility during the winter. You will also enjoy Jimboy’s entries on the Greystone Blog (daily entries during the summer, weekly in the winter).
His wife, Margaret, a board certified pediatrician on staff since 1995, serves as our Health Director and happily considers herself to be a full-time mother of their five children-Catherine, James Franklin, Caroline, John, and Virginia. Catherine, Caroline, and Virginia are happy to be campers at Greystone.
Jimboy and Margaret live in Grey Lodge, the house Dr. Sevier lived in when he first opened Greystone so many years ago. A wonderful testimony to the role of family over the years in this place.
Laura and Gervais Hollowell
Laura (25 plus years on staff) has excelled in every aspect of camp life. As both camper and counselor, Laura has achieved and set the standards we all strive to meet. A graduate of Converse College, Laura directs our June, Main, and August sessions. She is a full time member
of the staff, and her steady hand on the details of camp life have been felt by all.
Her husband, Gervais (10 plus years on staff), directs our incredible kitchen and runs our off-season events as well. Gervais, a graduate of Wofford College, has owned restaurants and currently has a gourmet coffee roasting company in Spartanburg South Carolina that provides all the freshly roasted coffee beans and specialty teas that we feature in our dining room.
Their two daughters, Leland and Kathleen, have been both campers and counselors at Greystone.
Libby Miller
Libby is the senior director of Greystone. With 50 plus years on staff, she has never spent a summer away from Greystone and brings this vast experience to each new group of campers. Her leadership and vision have shaped what Greystone is today. Libby loves teaching the Bible to Greystone girls, and they love getting to know her and hear her stories. Libby is involved very personally in the day-to-day operations and management of the camp and loves living on the camp grounds.
Katie Miller Grant
Katie (30 plus years on staff) directs our Junior camp. Greystone has always been a part of Katie’s life… growing up at camp, a camper for ten years, a counselor, assistant director, and now a director. Katie is a Greystone treasure! She lives in Chattanooga, with her husband Greg and her three children, Whittaker, Hanna Kate, and Elizabeth and Greg’s children, Tracie and Matthew.
Kelly Carew
Kelly (15+ years on staff) has served in almost every role at camp. Over 200 campers have enjoyed knowing Kelly as their cabin counselor, and now she uses this wealth of experience as our Program Director. A graduate of the University of North Florida, Kelly has a degree in Elementary Physical Education. Kelly recruits the counselors and sets up the extensive program that the campers love each summer. She also is one of the contributors to our Blog, one of the most enjoyed parts of our website.
Sarah Brown
Sarah is the newest member of the Head Staff. Sarah came to camp for 11 years as a camper, 8 years as a counselor, and now is our Head Counselor. If you are a new camper, you will get to know Sarah before you even arrive at camp as she will be sending you little newsletters that answer most of the questions new campers always have. She will also be checking in with new parents to make sure everything is going smoothly and help out any way that she can. Sarah is married to Rob Brown, a graduate of Wingate who she met while on staff at Greystone. Rob currently runs our Kayaking department and is pursuing a graduate degree in business.
