Sunday Funday

Good Morning Greystone Parents,

Last night’s evening program was a HUGE success! All of the programs put on a skit to introduce what they were teaching. The biggest hit was DOG CAMP, where they presented 4 of the 6 puppies who have just arrived. We had a great evening, and the girls slept well. It was not as chilly this morning, and will continue to get warmer all week.

Breakfast this morning was a traditional first meal at each session: fruit bar, hot oatmeal, cereal, homemade biscuits, ham, baked apples and cheese grits. We sang lots of camp songs while we were clearing the Dining Hall, then my brother Jimboy did Breakfast Club! We do Breakfast Club each morning. It was started by my father many years ago, and Jimboy continues the tradition! He gives a short “pep talk” for the day….then tells a funny story or joke to the girls! They love this time with him.

We then went to morning assembly…..since this is Sunday, our morning assembly was a bit longer so that we could incorporate a condensed church into the time. Mac Purdy led us in worship….he is wonderful with the girls and gave a great talk on our theme verse for the summer Hebrews 11:1…Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.

The girls are in classes right now, and will finish up in time for lunch at 12:45. We will then rest, and go into our Challenge Day afternoon with games between the Green & Gold! It will be a fun NEW tradition at Junior Camp!

New to this summer is Leland Reynolds on staff as a full time videographer. Throughout the session she will be posting video “shorts” to the Summer Photo’s page, so if you see a folder marked Video, check it out!!

The girls are happy and having fun. We are having a GREAT DAY at Greystone!
