Tuesday

It is a beautiful day… the sun is shining, the breeze is steady off the lake, there are fluffy clouds dotting the sky, and it is nice and warm. Perfect camp weather indeed!

The girls were shocked to hear that tomorrow will be our last “Regular” day of camp. Thursday is a half day of classes with the afternoon spent doing special end of camp things… so we remind them to make every minute count! Don’t just float through the day, sieze it and make it a GREAT DAY!

Breakfast Club has now moved the the last of the 4 principles of having a Great Day every day: Spiritual Growth. We are made in God’s image, with a spirit that lives forever… thus spiritual growth is important to living a good life. Too much of the time we assume that since we don’t see our spirit, it doesn’t matter. We encourage the girls to really think about that assumption and decide if it actually matters or not. The fact is, our days at camp are better because we nourish spiritual growth every day. We do it with prayer (praying before meals and after devotions), Scripture (morning assembly and cabin devotions both have a short bit of Scripture as the foundation), and good mentors (the counselors are excellent role models). These girls are very young and many don’t really take in these kind of talks (I am always brief with a teaching talk… 5 minutes is long), but many do listen which makes me happy!

The EP tonight is the big Production Night. All the classes that have learned a performance number (song, dance, guitar, drama) will have a moment in the bright lights of the pavilion stage. It is the last “regular” EP of the summer (tomorrow will be Closing Vespers and Council Fire, Thursday is our big Banquet)… the girls are very excited about it.

Thanks for reading and supporting our camp. It is wonderful to have you as a part of our summer family!
