The Prize

Our final Stumblers of June Camp provides a touchstone for the entire camp. The t-shirt reward for running both Sundays is part of it (this is a really great shirt… made of a super soft material that the girls just love) but the day of rest is just as big of a deal.

As you know, the break from daily classes is appreciated by all (campers just as much as counselors), ESPECIALLY at this point in the camp experience (when we really crave time to just BE with our friends). The camp is literally buzzing with the sounds of hundreds of conversations taking place in every corner of the property. From the canoe dock to the Health Hut porch, girls are sitting in groups both large and small eating coffee cake and discussing topics that I can not even begin to guess.

Time is short, we know that now. A week passes in the blink of an eye and that means that we are just about to go home. There is MUCH to do before that day arrives, which makes the time pass even faster. Life is indeed good.

Simon Stokes will preach his final sermon of June Camp and I know it will be a good one. You really should check them out if you have the time. He is a super nice man with a super great family… many cabin groups have asked him to lead “discussion groups” at rest hour and many campers have met with him on the Dining Hall porch during free time for the same purpose. He is such a great resource and we are glad to have his influence. Morning Assemblies have been top notch and are also worth a listen.

Weather is about perfect. No chance of rain, cool temperatures at night and warm during the day. We enjoyed a full moon last night, surrounded by cumulus clouds it was quite stunning. The fireflies are now out in full force and the girls gather them by the dozens after EP (carefully cupping them in their hands then letting them go, trying to grasp the flash pattern of our colony).

Thank you for checking in and for appreciating camp enough to share your girls. We are going to make this week a Great One!
