Livestream

From time to time we give you the option of “attending” a camp event with a cool technology known as livestreaming. Tonight (at 7:30) we will have our first live video feed of the summer during the June Camp Play (Aladdin). If your daughter is a part of the show or if you have a keen interest in live theater, take this opportunity to be a fly on the wall. It is sure to be a lot of fun!

Simply click here or go to campgreystone.com/live to see the live feed from 7:30 to about 9:00 tonight or in the next 24 hours (we leave the recording on the website for a day so don’t worry).

If you do watch the play, we think you will be impressed. The girls work very hard at doing a good job and all that hard work really pays off on the big night. They will know their lines, their blocking will be flawless, the singing and dancing confident and of high quality, costumes and props will be surprisingly good… the play is our best EP in many ways, we hope you like the show!

A little backstory on the play is worth mention. Hearing the actors has always been our biggest challenge. The pavilion is actually a pretty big live theater venu if measured by audience size (we have about 700 people watching the show). So many people absorb a lot of sound, it means that microphones are needed if a young voice is to be heard. We have tried every trick in the book but have finally determined that there is no solution but to go with the “real” wireless microphones that are used by the pros. Starting last summer we started a 5 year process of upgrading our wireless technology (buying 5 of these very expensive microphones every year). This year we will have ten girls with the good microphones and I think having most of the main parts wearing the good microphones will make for a much better show.

Food today:

  • Breakfast: French Toast, Sausage Links
  • Lunch: Meatloaf, Mashed Potatoes, Peas
  • Dinner: Taco in a bag (jumped the gun yesterday… we had pizza for dinner last night).

Weather is about perfect… there is a good chance of afternoon showers, but we love those! The Strawberry Moon last night was absolutely stunning! Unfortunately, the girls were in bed and our overnights are over… but it really was beautiful.

Thank you for checking in. I am off to the Horse Show, which the entire camp is REALLY EXCITED ABOUT. Almost 50 girls will be participating in the show and we are all glad to welcome such a huge event back into the June Camp calendar. Girls are gathered by the ring to cheer on their friends, it is really a wonderful morning.
