Everything you need to know to prepare for the Alumnae Reunion. October 4 - 6, 2019
We cannot wait to welcome you to Greystone on Friday, October 4th. Registered alumnae can arrive anytime after 3 p.m.
When arriving on Friday, please use camp’s front gate entrance, the entrance off of South Lake Summit Road. The best address to use for arriving is: 80 Apple Hill Lane Zirconia, NC 28790 [Please note: after arrival on Friday, we will be closing our front gate and ask that all cars coming in and out of camp use our Staff Entrance: 21 Camp Greystone Lane, Zirconia, NC 28790. This will prevent constant traffic in camp throughout the weekend.]
Upon your Friday arrival, we will greet you at the front gate (just like the good ’ole days!) and tell you your cabin assignment (if you are staying in town, keep reading for details on town arrivals). You will then drive through camp and can drop your luggage on the Lower Road before continuing to park at the soccer field. After parking, you will walk up the hill to pick up your luggage and carry everything to your cabin (assistance is available for those who need it). Finally, you will “officially” check-in at the Hostess Cabin. At that point you will receive details about the weekend and pick up your welcome bag and nametag.
Late Arrivals:The official check-in time will run from 3 p.m. - 8 p.m. If you will arrive after 8 p.m., please park at the Hostess Cabin, and our Hostess will check you in and help you know what to do next. We will have someone in the Hostess Cabin until 10 p.m. that night; if you need to arrive after 10 p.m., please .
Airplane Arrival: We are so excited to welcome Alumnae back to camp from all over the country! We will not be providing official shuttles to and from the airports but are happy to assist in helping you find transportation, if needed. We recommend contacting a camp friend coming to the Reunion to see if you can coordinate pick-up and return to the airport. If you cannot find someone to help with arrival, , and we can help connect you with a fellow alumna.
If you are staying in town during the Reunion and will be driving in to camp each day, we will be using two different entrances:
Our 100th Alumnae Reunion will be filled with fun! Below is the overview of the weekend; we will share more details when you arrive. All event locations are dependent on the weather.
Pull out your bags - it is time to start packing! The entire weekend will be laid back and relaxed. Please don’t forget that camp mornings can be very chilly, especially in October. All bunks will be pre-made with sheets and a thin jersey-style blanket; make sure to bring your pillow and a warmer blanket with you!
When packing, make sure to check the weather for the weekend, as the weather varies greatly in October in the mountains! Also, remember that you will be carrying your items to your cabin from the Lower Road or from your car. Pack in bags that are easy to manage. We will have limited assistance available to help with bags for those older alumnae who need it.
We are still in the process of finalizing the activities we will offer over the weekend. Take a minute to fill out our Activities Interest Form so we know which classes you’d like to re-live at the Reunion. We will have a full list of what is available when you arrive. From archery to boat rides to canoeing to Greystone Groove, you will have plenty to do!
If you are looking for a ride from your area, or would prefer to ride with someone, please letting us know. We will connect you with other alumnae who are coming from your town.
We are so excited to celebrate our 100th Reunion with our registered adult alumnae. Give your children a hug and your pet a good scratch before you leave: we are kid-free and pet-free over the weekend.
At the Reunion, we want to celebrate one of the best parts of the Greystone experience: face to face conversations. At our big meals and events, we ask that you be present in the moment and enjoy your time here by not using your cell phone or other electronic devices. Please give friends and family the camp number for the weekend: 828.693.3182. We will have someone manning the phone from 9 a.m. - 10 p.m. each day. Join us in our tech-free celebration at camp!
During the Alumnae weekend, we will have basic first aid kits available. We will not have a full time nurse or doctor working the weekend. If you have a medical need that you think we need to know about to ensure your safety for the weekend, please fill out our Medical Information form before the weekend.
Also, if you are in need of assistance over the weekend in any way, please also fill out our Medical Information form so that we can discuss options with you.
We will be passing out a booklet of emails and addresses to everyone attending the Reunion. If your information has changed since you registered, please fill out our Information Update form by September 20th. Also, if you do not want your information listed in the directory, please indicate that on the form as well.
In our directory, we will be creating a list of businesses and other ventures that would be of interest to Alumnae. What a wonderful way to support each other! If you have a business (or have written a book, or have published a CD, etc.) that you would like included in the directory, please fill out our Business Directory form by September 20th.
