The Last Week of Camp
The last week of camp is filled with special events for the campers. At that point in camp, the girls are comfortable in the camp community and are at their best both in the classes and with each other. With every passing day things get more and more exciting and the excitement of the campers rises to an all time high as the closing day approaches. Many girls perform their different talents in special evening programs that showcase skills gained over the entire camp session. Our summer culminates in a huge theme banquet on Thursday night, where the counselors decorate the dining hall and perform a musical specially written for the campers. Special awards are given out after the feast, and all the campers are given some special presents to remind them of their summer at Greystone. Because the final days of camp are so important to the overall memory of camp, we strongly discourage you from having your daughter leave before closing day.
Closing Day
Most parents pick up their campers early on the Friday of closing day. The gates open at 7:30 AM and we encourage you to be here before 10:00 AM. You will park in the same manner as opening day, then walk up the hill to your daughter’s cabin. We will have carried all of your daughter’s heavier items down to the track and sort them by cabin. On each bag, we place a nametag that has her name, cabin number, and the number of bags that we have brought to the track (for example: “1 of 4,” “2 of 4,” etc.). Please check this tag to confirm that you picked up your daughter’s bag (many do look alike) and that you have gotten all of the bags that she sent to the track. You will need to carry down any of her lighter items that were left at the cabin. After trying many different systems, we have found this to be the best way of ensuring that your daughter goes home with all of her belongings.
Please feel free to visit the store one more time and take a brief walk around our facilities. Your daughter will love to show you where all of the program areas are located and where she sat in the dining hall. Thank you for sharing your daughter with us!
