posted by Sarah It is hard to believe that camp is over. For those of us who have been here all summer, it is almost too quiet. Walking through camp feels empty – no clothes on the lines, no sound coming from the pavilion, no smell of fresh bread coming from the kitchen. It was just days ago that camp was filled and now it is so lonely!
I walked through camp this morning to snap some pictures. Everything looks the same, except for closed signs and no campers! We start the “closing down” process this week, as it takes quite an effort to winterize all of
posted by Jimboy 91 years ago, I imagine that Dr. Sevier sat down at his desk on closing day and shed a tear or two. It is a significant accomplishment to finish a summer, in some ways it feels like the culmination of a lifetime of preparation… a well run race is a delight to the spirit. He was a trail blazer, nobody else was running a girls camp at the time (nobody that he knew at least). It was a venture of the heart and a leap of faith… and when it worked, I imagine that he was overwhelmed.

3 weeks ago Wendy said Kirk called me midroute on the long day home with Lily (turned into 2 days..but anyway-airtravel!..) He said that for one entire leg of their plane ride (which was long) he heard Greystone songs. And then in the airport waiting for next flight, Greystone songs! It was wonderful and I'm sorry I missed it.

Thank you for sharing your precious girls with us, for choosing this experience over all the other things you could have done. It is a wonderful gift to your girls and to this entire community. Each camper adds so much… the curious alchemy of making golden summers is a result of each camper’s contributions. Thank you for making this summer so good.

on August 12, 2010 Kirsten said My 9 year old son just asked why I cry every time I read one of your blog posts! I can't explain it, but we are so thankful that our daughter, Harriet, has been able to spend yet another summer so close to heaven with you and your family.
