SNOW

As you probably know, a big winter storm hit the Southeastern United States yesterday. Greystone was on the edge of the storm with snow starting about 11:00 and falling steadily for the rest of the day. The office closed and we prepared for the weather.

Snow is a lot of fun. Fun to watch, fun to play in (the hills around camp are perfect for sledding), and fun to eat (snow ice cream is one of my favorites). I know that many of you are enjoying a day off from school today as your hometowns dig out from the storm. The temperatures will rise tomorrow and the snow will disappear, but it is lovely today!

I went out to take a few pictures and was struck by how quiet and peaceful camp is when covered in snow. We have four big building projects that keep about 40 workmen busy around camp every day. None of the workers showed up today and the effect is noticable. Not a sound, not even from the road (even the main highway is covered in snow right now). My hands grew numb from the cold (the temperature right now is 10 degrees!!!) and the dogs were looking anxious to get home… so now I am sitting by the fire with a hot cup of coffee, thinking about the beauty of winter and the fun of summer.

Have a great day Greystone Girls, go outside and enjoy the snow if you can!
