Our Last Day

First some housecleaning:

Camp ends tomorrow. Plan on arriving sometime after 8:00, hopefully not later than 10:00. If you are going to be late, just give the office a call so we won’t be worried.

We bring the bags to the track, sorted by cabins. Each bag will have a tag with the name of the camper and the total number of bags that are at the track (for example: Catherine Miller, C9E, 2 of 6). Count the bags and make sure you get them all!!! If any are forgotten, we can ship them to you later on.

UPS is being packed today, hopefully leaving tomorrow. You will get tracking information emailed to you… Gervais works very hard to get these 200 plus bags packed today. If we are delayed, they will go out on Monday.

Now the update:

Breakfast featured omlettes (veggie or meat). Really good. I did the traditional closing Breakfast Club “The Frog and the Scorpion”. An encouragement to run from evil… choose the good path always, bad ends badly. Ends with a final encouagement: “Wherever you may wander, whatever be your goal; Keep your eye upon the donut, and not upon the hole.” Applause.

Morning Assembly was a celebration of song and dance, with the girls going wild over the old songs that would not be sung again this year. I gave the devotion… on “Thankfulness”.

It is very hard to get through this devotion. Emotions run high and if I make eye contact with a teary camper (especially if that camper is my daughter)… not easy to finish. Made it through, a very sweet moment.

Classes until 12:30 today, then it is a picnic lunch before Rest Hour. We are out of the regular schedule now: doing lots of details prior to the HUGE Banquet this evening. The girls will flip out over the banquet, it is INCREDIBLE!!! A blow out event, taking a staff of over 150 all day to set up (they have been working on it for weeks). It is a wonderful ending to a wonderful summer.

I have put a bunch of pictures in the heading today. I wanted to get the entire session represented in favorite photos but that is not going to happen. Too much to pick. I will just leave it as it is.

Thank you for checking in. Thank you for sharing your girls. Thank you for being careful in your journey here and home.

It has been a pleasure.

"I love this update, and at the same time my heart is sad. Sad because I know the emotions of the day, sad because I can feel the gravity of tomorrow approaching through your words, but I know that there is SO MUCH JOY in camp right now. Sending lots of love."

"I'm so excited that our girls will be home tomorrow night, but I'm tearing up for them as I remember how wonderful and painful banquet night was for my friends and me way back when. I know the girls will both start counting down the days till next year before they even walk in our front door! Our family counts Greystone as one of your richest blessings. Many thanks to you, your family, and your incredible staff for another TERRIFIC Greystone summer!!!"
