Head Staff Spirit Animals

You might’ve heard this classic get-to-know-you question at your table or in one of your classes this summer - what’s your spirit animal? Wildlife Wednesday may have been yesterday, but I took a try at assigning spirit animals to every member of the head staff.

Up first, our fearless leader! Jimboy would have to be a dolphin - smart and majestic, yet playful and fun. He’s great at making cool sound effects and brightening up your day. Just like spotting a dolphin in the ocean, seeing Jimboy around camp is equally exciting. If only dolphins could give high fives like JB does…

Next we’ve got Dr. Margaret! Just like a gazelle, she’s graceful and elegant. She loves her friends and family really well like a gazelle, too - she’s always the first to share an encouraging word. The gazelle doesn’t seek the spotlight of the animal kingdom, but has some serious skills, just like Dr. M - I mean, did you see her do the splits in the Counselor Talent Show?

Laura would have to be a mama bear. Protective and sometimes a little intimidating on the outside but just a teddy bear on the inside and will do anything for her cubs! Also, will probably magically know if you have food hidden in your cabin, much like the mama bear. She’s just knowledgeable like that.

Ellen-Anne has got to be a blue heron. If you’ve ever seen her in action, you know that she’s creative, determined, and graceful, just like a blue heron. She’s also good at jumping in anywhere. Just like a heron can go between land and water, our pal EA can throw a pot on the wheel or shoot a target at riflery with equal skill.

Sarah is a white bushy tailed squirrel - witty, fun, and full of energy. You never know when she’s got a crazy good idea squirreled away (sorry, sorry, I couldn’t help it). To know the white bushy tailed squirrel is to love it - same thing with our good friend Sarah!

Cat would have to be a golden retriever, and not just because her faithful sidekick is Ben! Goldens are kind, friendly, and relentlessly cheerful. If you’ve ever seen Cat, you’ve seen her huge smile - her sunshiney personality fits the golden retriever to a T.

For years, I’ve had the miniature pony claimed. Just like our good friend Raindrop from the barn, I’m laid-back and love people. From Weiner Dog Socials to blog posts like this one, I don’t take myself too seriously - total miniature pony move.
