Breakfast Club yesterday featured growth in the mental skill of “look at the bright side” of every situation. A simple recipe for a Great Day, but one that works beautifully every time! We expected the girls to enjoy their time in the rain yesterday, and that certainly happened! It would rain in short bursts, followed by light cloud cover or brief rays of sunlight… not a bad day at all. Most classes were not affected and the girls enjoyed it all. Today will see a repeat of the off and on rain but that all ends today. Tomorrow is supposed to be a lovely sunny day, then we go into our standard afternoon showers routine for the rest of the week. Breakfast Club today switched to our last theme… Spiritual Growth.

We talk about God a lot at camp (morning assembly devotions and nightly cabin devotions). That is a big chunk of the camp experience… add to that the fact that we pray (before meals, after morning assembly and evening program)… it is obvious that we put a big emphasis on God! Some of you might wonder if we are trying to be a “Church Camp”.

Actually, we are not! Camp attempts to fashion a “perfect world” for the campers. We control many details of the daily experience so we deliberately choose what will make our community better. Dr. Sevier believed that glorifying and enjoying God was the “Chief end of man” and we still hold this faith. It is a good way to live… the proof found in a beautiful spirit that fills camp every summer. A Spirit of Love that is profoundly good. This spirit makes Greystone a Great camp!

So today I spoke to the girls about Spiritual Growth, a character trait that is closely tied to having a Great Day attitude. My suggestion to the girls today was to talk to God as if He were a regular person. That is what prayer is… talking to God… easy but seldom done. If we never talk to a person we will never get to know that person; God is a person and we are given the privlege of talking to Him if we choose to do so. We hope that everyone will want to be close to God, prayer is a great place to start!

The Talent Show was a big hit. Tonights Production Night will be another crowd pleaser! All the dance, drama, music, cheerleading, guitar, jump rope, and juggling classes will perform routines learned at camp this summer. It is a celebration of accomplishment and a great show!

HAVE A GREAT DAY!!!
