Kara Cook

University of Mississippi

Zumba and Cooking

1st year on staff

Hey y’all!! I’m Kara and I’m from Jackson, MS. I go to the University of Mississippi (aka Ole Miss–hotty toddy!!). I’m a freshman biology major on the pre-med track. Though I never had the opportunity to go to Camp Greystone as a camper, I always loved going to church camp and YoungLife camp growing up, so after hearing my friends talk about the amazing experiences that they have had as campers and counselors at Greystone, I knew that it was something I had to be a part of! I CAN’T WAIT to spend my summer at Greystone serving, growing, leading, and having fun! This summer, you can find me dancing like nobody’s watching while teaching zumba (or all the time, really) and whipping up some yummy food in cooking class! I can’t wait to see the amazing things that God will do this summer and I’m so excited to meet all of y’all!

“Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.” Phillipians 2:3-4

Personal Interests? wakesurfing, karaoke, writing, and eating pizza

When I have an hour of free time, I like to… have a picnic in the Grove at Ole Miss

Sing? Dance? Or both? BOTH!! Can’t have one without the other right?!

Item that I MUST bring to Camp with me…. running shoes and journal

Something you wouldn’t guess about me… I have scoliosis, so I have 9 metal staples in my spine, BUT can still do a backflip/dance my heart out!

Last book I read… Same Kind of Different than Me (a must read!!)

Three words to describe yourself: adventurous, compassionate, spunky

Hidden talent? Donald Duck impersonation

If my life could have a theme song, it would be…. 10,000 reasons -Matt Redman

The best thing about camp will be… making friends with all of the sweet campers/fellow staff members and getting to dance every day!!
