28 To-Dos to Get You Excited for Camp NOW!

It’s February… it’s still cold… you’re in school all day… but camp is coming way sooner than you think! Get geared up for camp with these 28 to-do’s - do them all, or just pick a few.

  1. Make a countdown for camp! Whether it’s an app on your phone (we like Dreamdays), or a stack of sticky notes, start counting down the days.
  2. Send Valentines to your camp friends. (check back here on Monday for some easy and fun ideas!)
  3. Stock up on stationary. We’ll be sending out penpals before too long, so get ready now so that you can write yours right away.
  4. Make a packing list. Check out our tips and start making a list of things you might need.
  5. Follow us on social media! If you’re not already, make sure you like us on Facebook and follow us on Instagram, Pinterest, and Twitter. We’ll be posting lots of fun stuff as the summer gets closer!
  6. Make a camp bucket list. Do you want to roll down the Pageant Court with your whole cabin? Blob your counselor? Whatever will make your summer the best EVER - start writing it down to bring to camp!
  7. Start planning your schedule. It’s never too early to plan that perfect schedule. Use our explore section to start dreaming - and ask your friends what they want to take too.
  8. Brainstorm great jokes! Have you heard a great joke this year? Make sure to write it down and share it with Jimboy - you might even get a shoutout at Breakfast Club! You can even email it to him at jimboy@campgreystone.com
  9. Get ready for Stumblers. Planning on earning that prize this year? Follow Laura’s Training Tips to start getting in shape so you’re ready to fly with the eagles.
  10. Make a list of fun Lip-Sync songs. We all know how hard it is to brainstorm Lip-Sync ideas on the spot, so start thinking about some options now. Don’t be afraid to be creative!
  11. Write a letter to your counselor. From last year or for this year! Tell your 2016 counselor what a difference she made in your life this year, and tell your 2017 counselor how excited you are to meet her (and give it to her on Opening Day!).
  12. Cook up a camp favorite with your family. Share the camp kitchen love with your favorite people at home. What about Oreo Cream Pie or Shepherd’s Pie or even Cheesy Chicken?
  13. Get back in touch with camp friends. The holidays are crazy, and we’ve all been bad about keeping in touch. But there’s no time like the present! Write a letter or give a friend a call. Start getting ready for the summer together!
  14. Start growing spiritually now. Check out our resources for book suggestions, or subscribe to our Daily Devotions.
  15. Rock out to Morning Assembly songs on the way to school. What better way to start your day than Life Is Precious?
  16. Make some goals for the summer. We all want to grow in the Four Fold Way, so let’s make some real goals now! How do you want to grow spiritually, socially, mentally, and physically?
  17. Start working on your talent for the mini talents. There’s no time like the present!
  18. Make a photo album from summer 2016. You know all those pictures that you love but have never done anything with? Make a photo album! We love Social Print Studio if you’re printing off Instagrams!
  19. Clap your hands when you wake up! Claim the day even now. When you wake up tomorrow, clap your hands and say, “It’s going to be a great day and I feel terrific!”
  20. Teach your friends from home some Greystone Groove! It’s the most fun you’ll ever have working out.
  21. Put a camp background on your phone. We have so many fun options!
  22. Make a family job wheel! Okay, hear me out. Your parents will LOVE you for this! And you’ll fine tune those skills for the summer.
  23. Have your own rest hour. We so rarely rest in our day to days, so incorporate this favorite time of camp by taking an hour on a Saturday to read or write letters. Looking for book recommendations? Try out some of Sarah’s Favorites!
  24. Bring your favorite classes home. Missing High Adventure in your life? Join a local climbing gym for the month. Or what about taking a painting class? Or joining a church soccer league?
  25. Listen to Ellie’s New Album. We LOVE Ellie at camp, and she just released a new album that we’re loving. We bet you’ll love it too!
  26. Wash, Water, and ’Screen! Just because it’s not 90 degrees outside, doesn’t mean you don’t need to take care of yourself. Listen to your camp mom and wash your hands, drink water, and put sunscreen on every day.
  27. Make S’Mores! Too cold to make s’mores outside? Make them in your oven!
  28. Eat Ice Cream this Sunday! What sweeter way to remember camp than to join our tradition of eating ice cream on Sundays? Do it every Sunday this month!
