The Start of Cabin Life

One of the joys of being a counselor at Greystone can be found within the cabin community. Being a cabin counselor is a fun and special thing. With a new camp session starting, it is exciting to receive the names of the girls in your cabin, prepare their nametags, a cute door poster and pray for them even before you have met them. It is even better to watch them run through the door after the Bunk Run on Opening Day!

For the next five weeks, I have the privilege of being the cabin counselor for Bungalow Upper 5. I have nine campers, all of which are about to start ninth grade in the fall. I already love these girls! I can’t wait to see how strangers will become the closest of friends as we live together and grow together in these next weeks. One of the greatest parts of camp is how a cabin unit is able to bond.

These girls started bonding early. On Opening Day, the girls in my cabin chose to stay together for our free time and play games in the cabin. What a sweet thing. It brings a smile to my face to watch counselors engage with their girls, laughing with them and leading them.

I am excited to share with you all about life here at Greystone from a counselor’s perspective over the next few weeks! Thank you, thank you, thank you for sharing your girls with us this summer. I am so thankful.
