Puppy Update!

This summer we had the CUTEST puppies on the planet. Six, 8 week old brothers and sisters from South Carolina came to live at camp with us. They played, barked, went on walks, learned how to swim, and even learned a few tricks during their summer stay.

They are now adopted and living with some amazing families. Here is a little update on how they are doing!

Ellie Grey

  1. Puppy’s personality: She is super loving and always rolls over on her back for some tummy rubs. She loves petting more than any dog we have ever had… She just seems happy at all times. So fun!

  2. Favorite chew toy: She destroyed a gray stuffed elephant within 15 minutes so she only gets dog bones now. She loves to carry a couple bones in her mouth at a time. So funny!

  3. Biggest fear: She has no fear. She barks at everything. She is more brave then our older dog, Maddie. They have become sweet friends. They sleep on the same bed all cuddled up together.

  4. Thing she gets the most excited about: When the girls get home from school. She also is a big fan of walks.

  5. Favorite new trick: She has learned to ‘play dead’ when you say ‘bang’ and make a pretend gun with your hand - then she rolls over on her side, closes her eyes. Right now her wagging tail gives her away but she’s getting better at it.

  6. Thing she gets in trouble for the most: She doesn’t get in trouble much - I think she is spoiled rotten but that’s how we like it with our puppies.

  7. Family nickname: We renamed her to Ellie-Grey — the ‘Grey’ is for Greystone.

Ben

  1. Puppy’s personality: Ben is a LOVER and the sweetest pup you’ll ever meet. He’s slightly timid when he first meets you, but once you’re friends, he loves nothing more than to snuggle up on the couch! He thinks every toddler he meets is his best friend, and that every other dog wants his constant kisses.

  2. Favorite chew toy: A neon-green soccer ball! Ben loves it so much that he hides it before we head off to camp every morning so that it doesn’t get lost. The first thing he does when we get home is find it again and parade around the house with it.

  3. Biggest fear: People he doesn’t know…and cars…and loud noises…he’s a little bit of a scaredy cat!

  4. Thing he gets the most excited about: Seeing his people after they’ve been gone, rolling around in thick grass, and playing with his best camp pal - Murray.

  5. Favorite new trick: Ben has recently learned that he can totally change his color by rolling around in the Lake Edith mud! He’s always super proud of himself and can’t figure out why mom doesn’t want to cuddle with him when he’s brown.

  6. Thing he gets in trouble for the most: Ben has a penchant for socks… all kinds and colors, he doesn’t discriminate!

  7. Family nickname: Much to his embarrassment.. Benny Boo Boo, and Benny Bookins

Doctor (Bear)

  1. Puppy’s Personality: Doctor is very “chill” for the most part. People that meet him can’t believe how laid back he is. He is very loving to anyone he meets and slightly mischievous. He is definitely a wanderer, but I think that is just part of being a puppy – easily distracted.

  2. Favorite chew toy: An “indestructible” toy duck. Doctor found it easily destructible.

  3. Biggest fear: Us finding out he has been digging in the newly planted grass :)

  4. Thing he/she gets the most excited about: He gets most excited about saying hi to other dogs, and he really loves seeing us come to get him out of his kennel to play.

  5. Favorite new trick: shaking hands. Learning how to walk appropriately on the leash (there is still some work to do here)

  6. Thing he gets in trouble for the most: Digging up the grass and crawling on the porch furniture after playing in the mud. Also, jumping up in our planters and digging it all out.

  7. Family nickname: Doctor. Doc.

Lucy (Dixie)

  1. Puppy’s personality: Lucy (formerly Dixie - we renamed her after Lucy Pevensie from CS Lewis’s books about Narnia) wants to be wherever there people - she’s definitely a “me-too” dog. She’s super friendly and happy, especially when we are giving her tummy a rub.

  2. Favorite chew toy: Her favorite toys are tennis balls, and she likes to hoard them. She widened a chipmunk hole in our back yard and dropped five balls down the hole!

  3. Biggest fear: Her own reflection. She cries then runs and hides every time she sees “the other Lucy” in a mirror or even the oven door. :-)

  4. Thing she gets the most excited about: It’s a tie between dinner and time with people. I guess I’d have to say dinner.

  5. Favorite new trick: When she’s alone in the yard, she knows how to push the ball with her nose and then run and fetch it. She does this for 30 minutes at a time!

  6. Lulu

Charlie

  1. Puppy’s Personality: Charlie is now 47 lbs and loves to take a shower, and lay in the bed with the kids every morning. She barks as soon as she hears me up to come get her out of the kennel. Charlie has been the biggest blessing in our lives and I cannot imagine not having her now!!!

  2. Favorite chew toy: Her favorite toy is her “blankie” and anything she can chew on and I mean anything!

  3. Biggest fear: Her biggest fear is probably the drone my husband flies around the house!

  4. Thing she gets the most excited about: Her favorite thing to do is go for a ride and sit in the front seat.

  5. Thing they get in trouble for the most: She goes into the kids rooms and grabs something in her mouth such as a toy or sock. If I catch her, she immediately drops it and looks at me ☺

  6. Family nickname: We sometimes call her “Charles Xavier” or just char char.

Lottie

  1. Puppy’s personality: Lottie is such a lover! She snuggles and wants to be with us all the time. She is a great listener and obeys most of the time. She does love to be sneaky some times, and will prance around the house when she has something she’s not supposed to have (like our shoes or a pillow). She loves to chase the kids when they are on their scooters or running around, and she loves to hike, and mostly swim! We can’t keep her out of any water. She is such a happy dog and welcomes everyone to our home! She is popular at the park and never meets a stranger.

  2. Favorite chew toy: She loves all chew toys! But her most favorite is a stuffed bone with rope coming out of both sides.

  3. Biggest fear: The attic fan or hair dryer

  4. Thing she gets the most excited about: Going to see her other friend dogs and having doggie play dates

  5. Favorite new trick: Retrieving and actually bringing back the ball or stick

  6. Thing she gets in trouble for the most: Eating the toilet paper and dragging it all through the house

  7. Family nickname: Lottie Dottie or Lottie Skunk
